The best way to share your Book Creator book is to publish it online.

Publishing your book online will you give you a link to a read-only version of the book. You can turn the pages, play audio and video, and click on any hyperlinks.

Public or private?

When you publish a book you can choose whether to keep it private, which means you get a secure link to the book that you can share with whomever you like. Or you can choose Public, which means your book will appear in Google (and other search engine) search results, meaning more people can find and share your book!

Remix?

You can also choose whether or not you want people to be able to download your book and edit for their own reuse.

Here's the full publishing process:

Click the Share button and choose Publish online.

You'll then be asked to confirm the book details - note that you'll need to add a book title, author name and description before the book will publish. These details will be visible on the published book.

Choose who can find the book and whether or not you will allow remixes, then click the Publish online button link when ready.

You'll see that once a book is published, a globe icon appears in the top right corner of the book. From here you can edit the book details, view the book online, copy the URL link to the book and also access analytics for the book.

Editing your book

A cool feature of published books is that any changes you make to the book in Book Creator are automatically saved to the online version. So there's no need to re-publish your book each time you change it. Just refresh the browser and you'll see the changes take effect.

Unpublishing your book

If at any time you want to unpublish your book, simply click on the globe icon in the top right corner of your book. Click the Stop Publishing link and the book will no longer be accessible on the web.

Accessing analytics for your book

It's now possible to see how many times your published book has been read.

Can students publish online?

You can choose whether or not you want to allow students to publish their own books or not. Click the Settings cog in the top right of the toolbar and you'll be able to change the settings for your students. If you don't allow them to publish their own books, as the teacher, you can still publish them on their behalf.

Note that students do not have the option to allow remixing of their books.

Publishing online with Book Creator for iPad

The process is the same as for the web, but with a couple of differences. In Book Creator for iPad, only teachers can publish, and it is limited to 10 books published online at once. You cannot make books remixable and at the moment you can only publish privately.

The first time you publish from your iPad, you will be prompted to create a Teacher Account. You can do this with your email address or with a Google or Office 365 account.

After you tap the Publish button, you'll get a message saying that your book is uploading, and we'll send an email notification to tell you when your book is published.

Privacy and Terms of service

You must always get permission before you share images and data online, and take care to follow your school's policies for sharing online.
