This article explains how to enable and configure referral bonuses for your center.

Referral bonuses allow members to refer new people. When the referred person converts into a paid membership, the referrer will automatically receive the configured bonus.

How to Access Referral Bonus Settings

  1. Open the dashboard.

  2. Go to Facilities → Centers in the menu.

  3. Click the center you want to configure referral bonuses for.

  4. Click Edit in the top-right corner.

Enable Referral Bonus

Scroll down to the section:

Member and Lead Settings

Find the setting:

Enable referral bonus

Turn the setting on.

Enter the bonus amount that the referrer should receive.

The bonus will automatically be added to the referrer's member balance when the requirements for payout are met.

Set Up Emails

To ensure both the referrer and the referred person receive the correct information, you need to select the emails that should be sent.

Find:

Referral lead confirmation email

Select the email that should be sent to the person who was referred.

Then find:

Referrer confirmation email

Select the email that should be sent to the member who made the referral.

How the Referral Flow Works

When a person is referred, they are created as a lead with the status Potential.

The system continuously checks whether the lead converts into a paid membership.

When the referred person purchases a paid membership, the lead status changes to Won, and the referrer automatically receives the configured bonus.

Note: Drop-In does not count as a paid membership and will therefore not trigger a referral bonus.

Referral Bonus Rules

When does the referrer receive a bonus?

The referrer receives a bonus if:

  • The person was referred within the last 3 months

  • The person purchases a paid membership

  • The membership is not a Drop-In membership

  • The lead converts to Won

The bonus is automatically added to the referrer's member balance.

When is a referral rejected?

A referral is rejected in the following cases:

The person was previously a member

If the person has been a member within the last 12 months, they cannot be referred.

The referrer will receive an error message.

The person has already been referred

If the person has already been referred within the last month, the new referral will be rejected.

The referrer will receive an error message.

The lead is not converted

If a lead is older than 1 month and has not converted into a membership, the system automatically marks the lead as Lost.

A lead marked as Lost can still convert into a membership within the first 3 months after the referral.

If the lead converts within this period:

  • The lead status changes to Won

  • The referrer will still receive the bonus

Multiple Referrers for the Same Person

If a person has been referred by multiple members, only one referrer can receive the bonus.

The most recent referrer will always receive the bonus when the person converts into a membership.

Summary

You have now:

  • Enabled referral bonuses

  • Set the bonus amount

  • Configured emails for the referrer and referred person

  • Learned the rules for when bonuses are paid out

Referral bonuses are handled automatically by the system and added to the referrer's member balance when all requirements are met.
