Competitive Insights helps you understand how your performance compares with other advertisers in the same market. Use it as a directional benchmark alongside your own campaign performance to identify areas that may warrant further review.
What is Competitive Insights?
Competitive Insights is a benchmarking tool built into the platform. It provides market-level and advertiser-level data to help you compare campaign performance with other advertisers in the same destination. These insights can help inform decisions around bidding, budget, targeting, and campaign setup when considered alongside your own performance data.
Overview – aggregated advertiser-level summary across markets, highlighting broader performance trends and areas that may warrant further review.
Market-level view – shows how your property performs within a specific destination relative to the broader advertiser market.
Hotel-level view – provides a more granular view of performance by property.
Key metrics in Competitive Insights
CPC (Cost Per Click) - Your average cost per click compared with the market average. Use this to understand how your click costs compare with other advertisers in the same market.
ROAS (Return on Ad Spend) - Your return on ad spend compared with the market benchmark. Use this alongside your spend, bookings, and conversion performance to understand overall campaign efficiency.
SOS (Share of Shelf) - Your impressions as a percentage of total market impressions. A higher SOS indicates greater visibility relative to the market, while a lower SOS indicates a smaller share of available Sponsored Listings visibility.
Average Daily Spend - Your average daily spend compared with other advertisers in the same market. Use this to understand your relative level of investment alongside other performance and competitiveness metrics.

How to use the data
CPC below the market average. Your click costs are lower than the market benchmark. Review this alongside Share of Shelf, ROAS, budget utilization, and campaign setup before deciding whether a bid adjustment is appropriate.
CPC above the market average. Your click costs are higher than the market benchmark. Compare this with ROAS and conversion performance to understand whether the higher CPC is still delivering efficient results.
SOS below the market average. Your campaign is capturing a smaller share of available Sponsored Listings impressions. Review CPC, Average Daily Spend, targeting, budget utilization, and campaign setup to understand what may be contributing to the lower share.
Average Daily Spend below the market average. Your daily investment is lower than the market benchmark. Consider this alongside budget utilization, campaign status, targeting, and overall performance before deciding whether additional budget is appropriate.
ROAS below the market average. Your return is lower than the market benchmark. Review campaign-level performance, conversion trends, targeting, and property performance to better understand what may be driving the difference.
Use Competitive Insights as a directional signal, not an absolute verdict. Context matters alongside the numbers. A lower SOS in a highly saturated market may still represent strong performance for your specific property type.
