Domain Change Request

The fee is $500 to change your domain (URL) due to the work associated with various teams. If there is any other need for content migration or redirects outside of the domain change redirect, we will need to invoice for that separately.

Moving into what may be affected when making a domain change, we will have a redirect strategy for your current BoomTown domain in place at the time of the domain change so that the traction that you have gained organically will pass through the 301 redirects, there is a chance that you will see a decline in related organic searches. It is a risk. That said, we ask that you continue to forward your old domain to the new BoomTown domain for at least 2 years to help assist with maintaining any organic traction. It will help assure that any previously shared links will land on your new domain.

If you are running ads with BoomTown, please be aware that you may see a negative impact on your AdWords performance. Changing domains causes resetting of ads, landing pages, etc., and resets the history of the campaign, which can cause a surge in CPCs. Ads that have been running consistently for a long period of time build up data and history and in turn, tend to get higher positioning in results at a cheaper cost than most new advertisers. When these are reset, all of this history is lost and has to be rebuilt. You will essentially be seen as a new advertiser since your new domain will not have the associated history from your previous domain. Your account may improve within several weeks, or you may not see any changes at all, but it is highly likely that your AdWords account will be negatively affected, at the very least initially upon domain change. There are no guarantees.

Another important update that will occur to your site, should you change your domain name, is your @MyBoomTownLeads email that is used for auto-importing. This is the unique email address that BoomTown automates for each Broker/Admin and Agent user account in order to set up auto-importing. Should you have Gmail forwarding set up to allow leads to auto-import into your account from third-party sources, please note you will need to update your forwarding email address immediately upon your domain change. The good news is, this is a quick fix and you can either adjust this easily on your end or reach out to BoomTown Support.
