Service Types Documentation

Service types determine the industry that encompasses the interpretation services for a call or appointment. This article explains default service types and how they’re used for calls and appointments, with the US glossary.

Written by Quinn Bott

For example, a manager at an insurance firm requesting interpretation would select Insurance as the service type.

Default service type

A default service type sets the industry for calls or appointments placed by requestors or requestor admins in a client account. When a client account or requestor user is created, a default service type must be set before they can place calls or create appointments.

Service types for calls

When a requestor places an on-demand OPI or VRI call, they’re asked to select a service type for the call, which determines its nature (for example, a teacher would select Education).

Service types for appointments

When an LSC admin, requestor, or requestor admin creates an appointment, they select a service type for it (for example, a doctor would select Medical or Medical (non-certified), depending on whether a certified interpreter is required).
