Rates Overview - Special Rates, Delivery Types and Service Types

Written by Quinn Bott

LSC Administrators can refine rate cards with special rates tied to schedules, and by language pairing, delivery type, and service type. This article explains each.

Note: For an introduction to rate cards, see Rates overview — standard rates and rate overrides.

Special rates

Special Rates correspond with Schedules in Boostlingo (such as After Hours or Weekends). Once a schedule is set, you can apply it in the Special Rates section of a standard rate card to:

  • add an extra per-minute/hour amount to the standard rate when a session falls within the schedule, or

  • apply a new standard rate with its own rounding and minimums for sessions within one or more schedules.

Note: If multiple special rates overlap, the higher-priority rate takes precedence.

Language 1(s) and Language 2(s)

The Language 1(s) and Language 2(s) fields are interchangeable and bi-directional — English→Spanish and Spanish→English get the same rate. You can create language groupings and pair them with different delivery and service types, applying a different rate to each (for example, ALL→ALL, or English/Spanish→German/French).

Delivery types

Delivery type is the method of interpretation. Different delivery types can have different rates, and one rate can cover several delivery types. The ten delivery types are:

  • Onsite Consecutive

  • Scheduled Video Interpreting (scheduled VRI)

  • Scheduled Telephonic (scheduled OPI)

  • Onsite Simultaneous

  • Onsite Whisper

  • On-Demand Video Interpreting (on-demand VRI)

  • On-Demand Telephonic (on-demand OPI)

  • On-Demand AI Interpreter (OPI via Boostlingo AI interpreter)

  • Onsite (scheduled onsite appointment)

  • Third Party Platform (Zoom or another third-party app)

Service types

Each rate can be associated with a service type to organize rates that share a language pairing and delivery type but serve different purposes. By default, a rate includes all service types. Selectable industries include Business, Community, Court, Education, Insurance, Legal (certified and non-certified), Medical (certified and non-certified), Sports, and Travel/Hospitality.

For example, two rate cards with the same language pair and delivery type can carry different rates by assigning each to a different service type/industry.

Note: The Service Type list in the rate card does not correspond to appointment service types. See the Appointments documentation for appointment service types.

Next steps / Getting more help

  • For LSC admins: if the wrong rate is applying to a session, check the language pairing, delivery type, and service type on your rate cards, then reach out to Boostlingo Support with an example call or appointment ID. If you’re unsure how to reach Support, contact your Account Manager.
