Rates Overview - Standard Rates, Rate Overrides

Written by Quinn Bott

Standard rates are the base rates Boostlingo applies to calls and appointments by default. LSC Administrators set them at the system level and can override them at the account, interpreter, and zone levels. This article covers setting up standard rates (with thresholds, rounding, and minimums) and creating overrides.

Set up a standard rate

  1. Navigate to Configuration>Billing>Rates. The page has three tabs: Schedules, Account (account charges), and Interpreter (interpreter payments).

  2. On the Account or Interpreter tab, select Add Rate. (Rate Helper can guide you through the language, delivery-type, and service-type choices.)

The Rates page under Configuration > Billing with the Schedules/Account/Interpreter tabs

You need at least one Account rate and one Interpreter rate to serve as your system-level base rates. Each row shows the Language, Type, Standard Rate, Minimum, and Visibility.

Standard rate and thresholds

The Standard Rate is the default hourly/per-minute rate for a call or appointment. You can add up to two thresholds to charge different amounts as a session runs longer — for example, $1.25 for the first 30 minutes, $1.00 for the next 30, and $0.75 for the remainder.

Rounding

Boostlingo can round up or down in 1, 5, 15, or 30-minute increments, or use pro-rata (no rounding). For example, with 15-minute rounding set to “Up” and no minimum, a 10-minute session is calculated as 15 minutes.

Minimum

A minimum duration sets the least amount charged or paid. For example, with a 15-minute minimum at $0.50/minute, a 5-minute session is charged as 15 minutes ($7.50).

Note: If rounding is set, it applies only after the minimum has been met.

Create rate overrides

Overrides let you depart from the system-level rate for specific accounts, interpreters, or zones.

  • Account rate override — On the Rates tab of the account details panel, select the rate, check Override, edit it, and select Create Override. Overridden rates are marked with an Override badge on the Rates page.

  • Interpreter rate override — Do the same on the Rates tab of the interpreter details panel.

  • Account-level interpreter override — You can override interpreter rates at the account level; these apply only to interpreters who don’t also have their own rate override.

  • Zone rate override — Create these on the Rates tab of the zone details panel. Zone overrides take precedence over account-level overrides, but not interpreter-level overrides.

Tip: Review the rate hierarchy before completing a rate card.

Next steps / Getting more help

For LSC admins: if a rate isn’t applying as expected, check for overrides at the account, interpreter, and zone levels, then reach out to Boostlingo Support with the account or interpreter name. If you’re unsure how to reach Support, contact your Account Manager.
