Zoom (For Clients) - Common Issues

Fixes for common Zoom meeting issues with interpreters: audio problems, an interpreter not joining, and connection error emails.

Written by Quinn Bott

This article covers common issues when connecting with an interpreter via a Zoom meeting, and how to resolve them.

Note: Several steps take place in Zoom, a third-party application.

The interpreter can’t hear me

Check your audio settings in Zoom: open the main Zoom window, select the Settings cog, then Audio. Confirm and test your Speaker and Microphone.

I can’t hear the interpreter

Double-check your audio settings in Zoom and your system. If they’re correct:

  • Using internal interpreters? Contact your LSC admin.

  • Using the Boostlingo Professional Interpreter Network? Complete the Interpreter Quality Assurance Incident Report form (see the Forms documentation).

The interpreter hasn’t joined

It can take up to 2 minutes. If they haven’t joined after 2 minutes, check that the Waiting Room is disabled, the meeting isn’t locked, and — with your LSC admin — that you’re a member of a language policy and service type policy matching the interpretation requested.

“Zoom Issue Connecting — Something went wrong…” email

Confirm the invitation was sent correctly. This often means you don’t have the correct language or service type permissions — check with your LSC admin.

  • For requestors: if the issue persists, let your LSC admin or Boostlingo Support know and include the original invitation email.
