Definition

A Sales Order in the Bottleneck Manufacturing Portal represents a request from a Customer Org to purchase products from your Manufacturer Org. It serves as a record of the agreement between you and your customer regarding the sale of specific items and quantities. Sales Orders play a crucial role in managing your manufacturing operations, as they drive production planning, inventory allocation, and shipment processes.

Examples

For example, "Healthy Juices Inc." might create a Sales Order with "Sunshine Beverages LLC" to purchase 1,000 bottles of "16oz Organic Apple Juice." The Sales Order would capture important details such as the customer's information, order date, requested delivery date, and shipping address.

Relations

  • Customer Org: Sales Orders are associated with a specific Customer Org that initiated the purchase request.

  • Sales Order Line Items: Sales Orders consist of one or more line items, which represent the individual products and quantities requested by the customer.

  • Invoice: A Sales Order is often linked to an Invoice that is generated once the order is fulfilled.

Example Relations

In our example, the Sales Order from "Healthy Juices Inc." would be associated with the Customer Org of the same name. It would have line items specifying the quantity of "16oz Organic Apple Juice" requested. Once the Sales Order is processed, it may generate an Invoice that captures the details of the sale.

Entity Lifecycle States

Sales Orders can have lifecycle states such as:

  • DRAFT: The Sales Order is being created or edited and is not yet finalized.

  • OPEN: The Sales Order is confirmed and awaiting fulfillment.

  • COMPLETED: The Sales Order has been fulfilled and the products have been shipped or delivered to the customer.

  • CANCELED: The Sales Order has been canceled and will not be fulfilled.

  • DELETED: The Sales Order has been permanently removed from the system.

Sales Order Line Item

Definition

A Sales Order Line Item represents an individual product or quantity listed within a Sales Order. It provides specific details about the items requested by the customer, such as the product name, quantity, price, and any additional specifications or options.

Examples

In our previous example, the Sales Order for "Healthy Juices Inc." might include a Sales Order Line Item for 1,000 bottles of "16oz Organic Apple Juice." The Line Item would capture the specific quantity and product information associated with the purchase request.

Relations

  • Sales Order: Sales Order Line Items are part of a Sales Order, providing detailed information about the products requested by the customer.

  • Invoice Line Item: A Sales Order Line Item may be linked to an Invoice Line Item once the Sales Order is converted into an Invoice.

Example Relations

The Sales Order Line Item for "16oz Organic Apple Juice" with a quantity of 1,000 would be associated with the Sales Order created by "Healthy Juices Inc." This Line Item would reflect the specific product and quantity requested by the customer.

Entity Lifecycle States

Sales Order Line Items typically do not have their own lifecycle states. Instead, their status is tied to the lifecycle of the associated Sales Order.

Invoice

Definition

An Invoice in the Bottleneck Manufacturing Portal represents a bill or request for payment generated for a completed Sales Order. It summarizes the products sold, quantities, pricing, and any additional charges or discounts. Invoices provide a formal record of the transaction and are essential for tracking revenue, managing accounts receivable, and facilitating customer payments.

Examples

Continuing with our previous example, once "Sunshine Beverages LLC" fulfills the Sales Order from "Healthy Juices Inc." for 1,000 bottles of "16oz Organic Apple Juice," an Invoice is generated. The Invoice
