Fundraiser Campaigns and Student Invitations

Learn how automated drip campaigns work, how to create a text or email campaign, how to edit campaign messages, and how to invite students to help run it.

A campaign takes fundraising and turns it into something your students can manage. Students connect their Bound user account to their student and join your campaign, then add the contacts they want to reach. Bound sends each contact a text or email on that student's behalf, on a set schedule.

Campaigns are an extra fundraising feature, so you must set up the fundraiser first. See: Create a fundraiser.

Inviting students is available on program fundraisers, the ones you reach through Programs -> Program (Ex: Boys Basketball) -> Fundraising. A fundraiser created under Business -> Fundraising still runs campaigns, but it is not tied to a team roster, so it has no Invite Students button and no Contacts tab.

Create a Campaign

  1. In the school dashboard, go to Programs. Select the program (e.g. boys football).

  2. In the Program sidebar, click Fundraising. Click the arrow next to the fundraiser to edit.

  3. In the fundraiser, click the Campaigns tab, then click Add Campaign.

  4. Under Category, choose Drip Text or Drip Email. This determines how campaign messages are delivered. Drip Text is selected by default.

  5. Enter a Campaign Name. This is the name you will see in your campaigns list and on the invitation screen.

  6. Set the Start Date and End Date. Bound spaces the four messages out between them.

  7. Set Minimum Contacts Required, or leave it at 0. This controls how many contacts you must set up for the campaign.

  8. Click Save.

The campaign will generate, and you'll land on the campaign overview page. This page is where you can invite students, edit messages and manage the campaign schedule.

Edit a Campaign Message

Read all four messages before you invite anyone. In the campaign, messages appear beneath the Queued Messages tab on the right side of the page. This gives you a quick overview of all four messages, and you can easily edit the message or send it manually.

To edit Messages further:

  1. In the campaign, click the Messages tab.

  2. Find the message you want to change and click Edit Message.

  3. Change any of the following:

    • Position: The order messages display in the queue (this is assigned automatically).

    • Day: The day in the campaign schedule the message will be sent.

    • Format: Email or Text.

    • Send Date and Time: When the message goes out. Bound sets new messages to 10:00 AM.

    • Subject: The subject line.

    • Body: The message itself. Keep {CONTACT FULLNAME} and {STUDENT FULLNAME} where you want the two names to appear.

  4. Click Save.

Tip: Leave your students enough time between the invitation and the first message to set up their account and add contacts.

To take a message out of the campaign, click Delete Message at the bottom of the edit screen and confirm.

Send a Message Early

Send Message on a message sends it now instead of waiting for its date. You can easily do this by clicking Send Message on the Queued Messages tab:

  1. Open the campaign, click the Messages tab, and click Send Message on the message you want.

  2. Read the Format, Subject, and Body shown.

  3. Confirm the send.

NOTE: Bound will not let you send while nobody has joined the campaign. You must have at least one participant with contacts to send the message.

Invite Students to a Campaign

Bound emails the students in your program for you. Students not yet connected will receive an invite to create a Bound account. Students already connected will receive the fundraiser link directly.

You can invite students directly from the fundraiser's overview page, or within the campaign settings:

  1. Open the campaign and click Invite Students.

  2. Narrow the list if you only want part of the roster:

    • Use the team buttons (All Teams, Varsity, JV, Freshman/Sophomore) to pick a team.

    • Click the All Years drop down to pick a graduation year.

    • Use Search students to find one student by name.

  3. The table shows each student's Name, Email, and Phone.

  4. Select Also text students with a phone number if you want the invitation to go out as a text as well as an email. Students with no phone number on file still get the email.

  5. Click Send to All (#) Student(s).

Print QR Codes Instead

Print All QR Codes on the invitation screen gives you printable QR codes for students to scan. Use these when you would rather hand something out at practice than rely on text or email.

Share the Student Portal Link

The student portal link is the other way you can get students involved. Anyone who opens it can connect to the fundraiser, so it works for a poster, a team group chat, or a parent meeting.

Back on the fundraiser Overview tab, click Student Portal Link below the "You have campaigns set up!" message.

Click Copy Link to copy the address, Download QR Code to save the code as an image, or Print QR Code Poster for a printable sheet.

Edit or Delete a Campaign

  1. Open the campaign and click the Setup tab.

  2. Change what you need:

    • Status: Active or Inactive. Only active campaigns show on the student fundraising portal.

    • Category: Fixed once the campaign exists.

    • Name, Start Date, End Date, and Minimum Contacts Required.

  3. Click Save.

To remove the campaign, click Delete Campaign at the bottom of the Setup tab and confirm.

Note: Set the campaign to Inactive if you only want it to stop showing on the student fundraising portal. Deleting is permanent.
