Postpone, Cancel, or Delete Events & Competitions (Web)

Learn how to reschedule, postpone, or cancel an event's competitions, and delete an event or a competition.

You can change the status of a whole event or of single competitions (games and meets) in it. A competition can stay active with new details, be postponed, or be cancelled. Other schools are notified of the changes unless you turn notifications off, and you can send a post about the change when you save.

To remove an event or competition that shouldn't be on the schedule at all, such as a duplicate or one created by mistake, delete it instead. See Delete an Event or Competition below.

Reschedule, Postpone, or Cancel Competitions

Nothing changes until you click Save Event Schedule Changes.

  1. Go to Events.

  2. Find the event, click the calendar button on the event, and click Reschedule.

  3. Under Reschedule Event Status, click Active, Postponed, or Cancelled.

    • This sets every competition in the event to match (Active - No Schedule Changes, Postponed - Future Date To Be Determined, or Cancelled - Will not be Rescheduled), so choose it before you change single competitions.

  4. Under Events & Competitions, change the status of any competition that needs a different one:

    • Active - No Schedule Changes: The competition goes ahead as scheduled.

    • Active - With Schedule Changes: The competition goes ahead with a new date, time, or location.

    • Postponed - Future Date To Be Determined: The competition is postponed, and the new date isn't set yet.

    • Postponed - New Date/Time/Location Known: The competition is postponed to a date you enter.

    • Cancelled - Will not be Rescheduled: The competition is cancelled.

Tip: To move a rescheduled game to its own event, see Split a Game into Its Own Event.

  5. Choose a Sub Status for the competition. It decides what the officials assigned to it are owed.

    • Options without pay, such as Postponed or Cancelled, pay nothing, and officials who are owed nothing are released from the competition.

    • With Pay options pay the game fee, and With Pay and Travel options pay the fee plus mileage. Officials who are owed a fee stay assigned.

    • Cancelled competitions also have Forfeit, Forfeit With Pay, and Forfeit With Pay and Travel.

  6. If you chose Active - With Schedule Changes or Postponed - New Date/Time/Location Known, enter the new Date, Start Time, and End Time, and change the Location if it's moving.

  7. Edit the competition's Caption if needed. Postponed and cancelled competitions get one filled in for you, such as Postponed - Makeup Date TBD.

  8. Under Reason for Changes, enter a reason, or click Time Change, Location Change, Date Change, Weather, or Opponent Request. A reason is required.

  9. To keep schedule change notifications from going to other schools, select Don't send notification.

  10. Click Save Event Schedule Changes.

  11. In Create New Post, edit the Subject and Body. You can also add an Action Link, a Main Image, and Attachments.

  12. Under Recipients, select the groups to message. To email other people, add up to 25 addresses under Additional Emails.

  13. Click Send Message, or close the window to skip the post.

  14. On the Events page, each changed competition shows its new status, such as POSTPONED or SCHEDULE CHANGES, with a note such as its new date or Postponed - Makeup Date TBD.

Delete an Event or Competition

Delete an event or competition that shouldn't be on the schedule at all. Deleting removes it for good and can't be undone. To keep it on the schedule marked as cancelled, cancel it instead.

Before You Delete

An event or competition can't be deleted while it has linked items. Remove these first:

  • Officials: Go to Officials, open the official's Manage Assignment(s), and uncheck the games you're deleting.

  • Contracts: In the event's Hosting section, set the contract to Unpublished or Declined.

  • Scores and stats: Remove any scores or results. To delete athlete stats, select the stat box, scroll to the bottom, and choose to remove all marks.

  • Workers: Remove any workers.

  • Transportation events: Delete any linked transportation events.

Also check these:

  • Only the event's Primary Host can delete it. If another school is the Primary Host, contact them to delete the event.

  • If the event has more than one competition, split them (see Split a Game into Its Own Event), and remove officials from the competition you want to delete.

  • If a game stays on your schedule after you decline its contract, contact Bound support to remove it.

NOTE: An event with ticketing can't be deleted if any tickets have sold. If no tickets have sold, set its ticketing option to None before you delete it. If tickets have sold, reach out to your Bound contact.

Delete an Event

Deleting an event also deletes every competition, practice, camp, and non-competition event in it.

Note: Non-competition events added in bulk have to be deleted one at a time. There's no bulk delete.

  1. In Events, click the gear button on the event, and click Settings. The event opens in a new tab.

  2. Under Event Details, click Delete.

  3. On Delete Event, check the competitions listed under Schedule.

  4. Click Delete Event.

  5. Deleting can take several seconds. When it's done, the Events page opens with a Deleted successfully message.

Delete a Competition

  1. In Events, click the 3-dot button on the competition, and click Delete Competition.

  2. The Delete Game page opens in a new tab. Check that it shows the competition you're deleting.

  3. Under Reason for Deletion, enter a reason. A reason is required for all deletions.

  4. Click Delete Game.

  5. When the competition is deleted, a message says The competition was deleted. If it can't be deleted, check Before You Delete.

Tip: You can also start from the event. Click the gear button on the event, click Settings, click Schedule, click the pencil button next to the competition, and click Delete Game. Then continue from step 3.

Handle Duplicate Events

If a duplicate event can't be deleted, merge the duplicates into one event, then delete the extra competition.

  1. Merge the duplicate events into one event. See Merge multiple events into one.

  2. Delete the extra competition. See Delete a Competition above.

Note: Merging events may remove attached contracts. You may also need to re-add the location on each head-to-head game so it shows on team schedules.
