Two separate fees can appear on a client's booking, and they are controlled in different places. Knowing which is which makes it clear what you can change yourself.
Where to find Fee Settings
In the left sidebar, click your organization name, then Fee settings. Scroll to Fee pass overall settings.
Default client fees
This is the Brindlechute booking fee your clients are charged. The section shows your account's fee minimum and the percentage your clients currently pay.
This fee is set by Brindlechute and is not editable from your settings. To change it, contact the Brindlechute team.
Default stripe fee pass
Stripe charges a processing fee on every card and ACH payment. This setting controls how much of that fee is passed to your client:
100% — your client covers the full processing fee.
0% — you absorb the full processing fee, and it comes out of your proceeds.
Any value in between splits the fee between you and your client.
The section lists Stripe's current card and ACH rates, including the ACH cap, so you can see exactly what you are passing on or absorbing.
⚠️ Note: Setting the Stripe fee pass to 0% does not remove the Brindlechute client booking fee. The two are calculated separately, and the client fee still applies. What you absorb is Stripe's processing fee.
Setting fees by payment method
Turning on Set by payment method replaces the two settings above with a table, letting you set a different client fee and Stripe fee pass for card, ACH, and custom payments. In this mode the client fee can be a percentage or a flat dollar amount, set per method.
This mode is enabled by Brindlechute for your account. See Understanding Stripe Fee Pass by payment method for how to use it and why you might want to.
⚠️ Note: Changes to Fee Settings apply to new and draft bookings only. Invoices that have already been sent or paid will not recalculate.
