Your existing lists haven't moved — Segments are what were called Smartlists in the previous Back Office. The clients in them, and the way you build them, work as before.
Campaigns let you send a message to a segment of clients — by email, SMS, push notification, or pop-up — and track how it performs, without leaving the send flow. This article is for studio managers sending marketing or engagement messages from the new Back Office.
Before you start
You need a segment to send your campaign to. You can use a prebuilt segment bsport provides, or build a custom segment with filters. Both are in Segments.
Steps
Step 1 — Open the segment you want to send to
Go to Segments and select the segment you want to campaign to.
Step 2 — Start the campaign
Go to the Campaigns tab, then select Create campaign.
Step 3 — Choose a channel and send or schedule
Choose a channel — email, SMS, push notification, or pop-up. Then choose Send to send now, or Schedule to set a date and time.
Note: Pop-up campaigns can't be sent to prebuilt segments yet. Use a custom segment to send a pop-up campaign.
Step 4 — Build your email
For an email campaign, the editor opens in a modal, so you stay in the campaign flow. Enter your subject and content — you can start from a saved template or build from scratch. (In the previous Back Office, templates had to be created on a separate page first.)
When you save an email you've edited from a template, choose how your changes are kept:
Use template for this campaign only — your changes apply to this campaign. The saved template stays as it was, so anyone who uses it later gets the original.
Save as a new template — your edited version is saved as a separate, new template. The original is untouched, and you can reuse the new one in future campaigns.
Update existing template — your changes overwrite the original template. Every future campaign that uses it starts from your edited version.
Note: "Update existing template" replaces the saved template everywhere it's used. To keep the original, choose "Save as a new template" instead.
Step 5 — Check performance
After your campaign is sent, open Campaign Details to see how it performed.
Note: Campaign Details shows open rate and click rate. Business-outcome metrics such as rebooking and reactivation aren't available yet, and you can't retarget non-openers directly from the metrics.
Common questions
Do I need to build my email before I start the campaign?
No. You can build and save your email while you're creating the campaign — there's no separate step beforehand.
Where do scheduled and automated campaigns live?
Both live under Campaigns, organised by segment. Segmenting, sending a campaign, and setting up an automation are now separate, so it's clearer where to go for each.
Fewer people received my message than my segment shows. Why?
Recipient counts can differ from your segment size for reasons unrelated to filtering — clients who've opted out of marketing messages, clients with no email address, or aggregator accounts (such as ClassPass) that use placeholder email addresses. See the related article on recipient counts and email delivery.
