What checks does Bubble do on parents?

Bubble is a marketplace, so parents don’t go through the same screening process as sitters. However, we want sitters to be able to make informed decisions about who they work with, and we give sitters the information they need to make confident, positive connections.

  1. SMS verification: Every parent is required to verify their mobile number during the sign-up process.

  2. Payment card upload: Every parent is forced to upload a valid debit or credit card before they can make their first job request.

  3. Sitter reviews: You are shown the parent's reviews left by other sitters, and you can chat to those sitters in the app before accepting a booking. If a parent doesn’t have any reviews yet, we recommend organising a video call or a pre-meet in local park or cafe to get to know each other first.

  4. Home address: Bookings must take place at the address listed on the app, unless the parent has specifically asked you to take their child out and about or pick them up from school or nursery. If a parent asks you to completely change the location of the booking after it’s confirmed, please contact our support team so we can update our records. You don't need to share your own address with anybody on Bubble.

  5. Mutual friends/Connections: You can see which friends you have in common with a parent, to help you foster a connection with that parent.

  6. Report profile button: If you see a profile that gives you cause for concern, use the 'Report profile' button at the bottom to immediately notify the Bubble team.

  7. Safety Bubble: If there’s an emergency during an in-progress booking, always call 999 first for emergency services. You can also use the in-app Safety Bubble to find the parent’s emergency contact number if they’ve added one, or you can ping your booking details (the address and times that you’re working) to a trusted contact.

  8. Secure payment: All job requests and bookings are tracked and insured and you are paid securely through the app once a booking is complete.

    We appreciate that the preferences of babysitters when it comes to which jobs they want to accept can vary a lot so we aim to give sitters as much control and transparency as possible. That said, we're here to help if you ever have any questions or concerns. It’s always up to you to decide which jobs you want to apply for or not.
