The Curator plays a key role in booking and managing a group stay. If they leave before the booking is confirmed, the group must respond quickly — or risk cancellation.
1. If the Curator Leaves Before Booking Is Confirmed
The booking is automatically cancelled — it cannot continue without a Curator
Payment authorisations are released and no one is charged
If the property is still available, any group member can create a new booking
Reassigning the Curator role within the same group is not yet supported (Feature Coming Soon)
2. If the Curator Leaves After Booking Is Confirmed
The Curator cannot transfer their role through the app
To cancel, they must contact Support
The Property Manager’s cancellation policy applies
Refunds may be partial or unavailable, depending on timing
Buenro Fees are non-refundable unless the cancellation is due to a platform issue
The booking may be cancelled entirely unless another member starts a new booking
3. Can Someone Else Take Over?
There is currently no way to take over the Curator role in an active booking
If the original group was not yet confirmed, a new booking can be created
A built-in Curator reassignment flow is in development (Feature Coming Soon)
4. What Happens to Guests?
Guests are notified if the booking is cancelled due to the Curator leaving
If the group wasn’t confirmed, held payments are released
If it was confirmed, refunds depend on the Property Manager’s cancellation policy
5. Best Practices for Curators
Only take on the Curator role if you’re confident you can commit
Communicate early if you may need to step away
Let your group know what’s at stake if you cancel
