What’s the difference between guest and +1?

In Buenro, people can be part of a booking in two different ways: as a guest or as a +1.

Understanding the difference helps you know who can manage the booking, who gets notifications, and how the booking is counted.

Guest

A guest is someone who has joined the booking in their own name. They:

  • Have a Buenro profile linked to the booking.

  • Receive booking updates, notifications, and reminders directly.

  • May be able to view and manage booking details, depending on their role (for example, if they are the curator).

Example:
Sarah joins a group stay through the app. She’s listed as a guest and can see all booking details, chat with the group, and receive notifications about check-in times or changes.

+1

A +1 is an additional person added under a guest’s booking. They:

  • Do not have their own Buenro profile for this booking.

  • Are counted toward the total headcount.

  • Do not receive direct notifications or have access to booking details.

  • Rely on the guest who added them for all updates and communication.

Example:
Sarah adds her partner John as a +1. John is included in the booking’s headcount but won’t receive messages from Buenro. Sarah will get any updates and is responsible for passing them on to John.

Why it matters

  • Notifications: Only guests get notifications from Buenro.

  • Booking management: Only guests can make changes or cancel their own participation.

  • Support: If a +1 needs to change plans, the guest who added them must contact support.
