What does it mean to join a group?

This guide outlines what it means to be a Guest or +1, how the booking works, and what to expect.

Joining a group on Buenro means taking part in a shared stay organised by a fellow user, the Curator. It’s a group commitment where everyone collaborates to complete the booking.

1. Joining a Group vs. Booking a Room

On Buenro, you don’t book a room alone. Instead:

  • You join a group reserving an entire property

  • A designated Curator coordinates the booking

  • Everyone pays their share of the total group cost

This model is designed to help friends, mutuals, or curated strangers share unique travel experiences.

2. Who Can Join a Group?

You can join if:

  • You've received a direct invite from a Curator or participant

  • The group is visible (e.g. Public, Buenro Community, Followers Only, or Private with invite link)

  • The Curator allows additional guests

Joining may involve:

  • Creating or logging into your Buenro account

  • Adding a profile photo and travel details

  • Accepting the terms and group rules

3. Your Commitments When You Join

Joining means you agree to:

  • Share the space respectfully with other guests

  • Follow Buenro’s House Rules and the property’s terms

  • Pay your share in full (or be covered by the person who invited you)

  • Respect the check-in/check-out timeline and safety protocols

You’ll also appear in the group chat and reservation dashboard, visible to the Curator and other members.

4. Payment Process

When you join:

  • Your payment method is authorised, but not charged

  • You’ll only be charged once the group is full and confirmed

If the group doesn’t fill within 7 days, the booking is cancelled and your payment hold is released.

5. What if Plans Change?

Changing Dates

Changes to your travel dates depend on availability and are at the discretion of the Property Manager.

  • If you’re the Curator: Contact the Property Manager directly through the app.

  • If you’re a Guest: Message your Curator in the group chat—they’ll help coordinate any change requests.

Cancelling Your Booking

Your refund eligibility depends on your role in the booking and how close you are to the check-in date.

  • Before Group Confirmation
You can leave the group at any time. If you’ve added a payment method, the hold will be automatically released.

  • After Group Confirmation
Once a booking is confirmed, cancellation terms vary based on your role and how close it is to the check-in date:

  • You may receive a full refund if cancelled well in advance

  • You may receive a partial refund if cancelled closer to check-in

  • No refund applies if cancelled within 7 days of check-in or after your stay has started

The exact refund conditions are shown during checkout and in your booking details.
