How to use the AI question generator?

The AI Question Generator on CampusKnot creates high-quality, engaging questions in seconds. Whether you need polls, surveys, discussion warm-ups, or quiz-style questions, the AI tool saves time and encourages better student participation.

  1. Navigate to Your Course Dashboard

    • Select the course where you want to create questions.

  2. Click on Participation

  3. Select “+Create poll”

  4. Choose the 'Generate with AI' option

  5. Choose a Question Type

    • Options may include:

      • Multiple Choice: Best for quick knowledge checks and assessing understanding of key concepts.

      • True/False: Ideal for simple factual checks or clearing up common misconceptions.

      • Open-ended: Great for encouraging critical thinking, explanations, or class discussions.

      • Survey: Useful for gathering opinions, feedback, or understanding student preferences.

      • Rating: Best for measuring satisfaction, confidence levels, or self-assessment.

  6. Add Points✨ recommended if looking for higher engagement rates.

    • You can award points for participation or give points only when students select the correct answer."

  7. Set a duration

    • Default Setting: Every poll is set to 1 minute by default.

    • In-Class Activities:

      • For live, in-person sessions, keep polls between 45 seconds to 1 minute for quick engagement.

      • For writing-based questions during class, allow 2–5 minutes to give students enough time to respond thoughtfully.

    • Out-of-Class Activities:

      • For asynchronous courses or pre/post-class work, extend the duration to 24–72 hours to give students flexibility to respond.

  8. Choose a Bloom’s Taxonomy Cognitive Domain (Optional)

    • Selecting a cognitive domain helps align your questions with specific learning objectives, making them more engaging and purposeful.

  9. Start creating

    Inside CampusKnot, you can improve AI-generated questions by either providing context or uploading your lecture materials.

    a. Enter a Topic or Prompt

    • Type a concept, chapter title, or paste text from a case study or assigned reading.

    • (Examples: “Photosynthesis in plants” or “Causes of World War I.”)

    b. Upload Lecture Content

    • Supported file types: PDF, PNG, JPEG

    • Maximum file size: 30 MB

  10. Choose the question(s) you'd like to keep

  11. Select or create a tag

  12. Publish or Save for Later

    • Click on 'Save as Draft' and choose one of the options.
