Attendance is a leading factor when we discuss student success. Inside CampusKnot, you can award students points for actively participating in the class or simply showing up for the day.

This article will cover using the CampusKnot polls to automate attendance tracking. Before you can take attendance, please make sure your poll is ready to be 'published.'

After selecting the publish button, you'll be prompted to choose one of the two options:

Responses count as attendance for today:

This is a submission-based option. Student responses will count towards their attendance for the day.

When opting for this method, students can submit the poll regardless of their physical presence in the lecture. For those teaching in a physical classroom and wishing to use this approach, it's recommended to complement it with the 'hide question' setting.

Only allow those already marked as present to take this poll

This is an attendance-based option. Only students who 'check in' or 'submit attendance' can view and respond to the poll.

This is a more robust way to track attendance. If you haven't taken attendance for the day, you'll be prompted to take attendance πŸ‘‡

Select the 'Take Attendance' option and choose your timer. We encourage you to stay within 20-25 seconds, especially in the first few weeks of classes.

Select 'Start' and let the timer run for 2-3 minutes; this amount will also vary based on your class size.

If you would like a complete attendance guide, you can click here.

Once your 'active member' count increases, it's time to 'end' your attendance. The next step is selecting 'Publish.'

Only students who submitted the attendance can view and submit the attendance for the day.
