Is the CaptionCall service no-cost?

There is no cost to use the CaptionCall service for qualified users experiencing difficulties communicating over the phone as a result of hearing loss.

Thanks to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), funds are set aside to help people with hearing loss effectively use the telephone.

CaptionCall is an FCC-authorized captioned telephone service provider and is compensated for providing the captioning service by the Interstate Telecommunications Relay Service Fund, which is administered by the Federal Communications Commission.

Since the IP CTS fund compensates us for the services we offer, we can provide the service at no cost!

But how do I know if I qualify?

To be eligible to use the CaptionCall service, you must have hearing loss that necessitates the use of a captioned telephone service.

When you first sign up, you will be required to complete a self-certification and provide other mandatory registration information.

FEDERAL LAW PROHIBITS ANYONE BUT REGISTERED USERS WITH HEARING LOSS FROM USING INTERNET PROTOCOL (IP) CAPTIONED TELEPHONES WITH THE CAPTIONS TURNED ON. There is a cost for each minute of captions generated, paid from a federally administered fund.
