How to Exclude Customers from Your Loyalty Program Using Tags

Use customer tags in Platform Settings to completely exclude specific customers from earning points, redeeming rewards, VIP, referrals, and the widget.

Written by Ateeb

Casa Loyalty lets you exclude specific customers from your entire loyalty program using customer tags. This is different from excluding products from earning points — this feature excludes the customer from everything in the program.

What Customer Exclusion Does

Customers with an excluded tag are completely blocked from:

  • Earning points

  • Redeeming rewards

  • Joining VIP tiers

  • Using the referral program

  • Seeing or interacting with the loyalty widget, landing page, and all extensions

Where to Find This Setting

  1. Open the Casa Loyalty app in your Shopify Admin.

  2. In the left-hand menu, click Settings.

  3. Select Platform.

  4. Scroll down to the Excluded Customer Tags section.

How to Set It Up

  1. In the Excluded Customer Tags field, type the customer tag you want to exclude (e.g., wholesale, staff, no-loyalty).

  2. Click Add or press Enter.

  3. Repeat for any additional tags.

  4. Click Save.

Note: Tag matching is case-insensitive, so "Wholesale", "wholesale", and "WHOLESALE" all work the same way.

How to Tag Customers in Shopify

  1. Go to your Shopify Admin → Customers.

  2. Open the customer you want to exclude.

  3. In the right-hand sidebar, find the Tags field.

  4. Add your chosen tag (e.g., wholesale).

  5. Click Save.

Once the tag is applied, Casa Loyalty will automatically exclude that customer from all loyalty features.

Common Use Cases

  • Wholesale customers — exclude B2B accounts from your retail loyalty program.

  • Staff accounts — prevent your own team members from earning rewards.

  • Fraud prevention — quickly block a suspicious customer from the program without deleting their account.
