How to Exclude Marketplace Customers (TikTok Shop, Amazon) from Your Loyalty Program

Marketplace buyers earn points like any other customer. Use Shopify Flow to tag them automatically, then exclude that tag in Casa so TikTok Shop and Amazon orders stay out of your programme.

Why marketplace customers end up in your programme

If you sell through TikTok Shop, Amazon, or another marketplace channel connected to Shopify, those orders arrive in Shopify like any other order. Casa Loyalty reads your Shopify orders, so those buyers are enrolled and earn points alongside your own storefront customers.

Many merchants don't want that. Marketplace buyers often aren't your customers in the way a storefront shopper is — the marketplace owns the relationship, margins are thinner, and rewarding those orders can mean giving discounts on sales you never acquired yourself.

Casa doesn't currently filter by individual sales channel, so the way to keep marketplace buyers out is to tag them in Shopify and exclude that tag in Casa.

How the exclusion works

Casa's Excluded Customer Tags setting removes a customer from your programme completely. A customer carrying an excluded tag will not earn points, cannot redeem rewards, is left out of VIP tiers and referrals, and the loyalty widget is hidden from them.

The setting works on tags, so the whole job is getting a tag onto the right customers.

Step 1: Decide on your tag

Pick a single clear tag you'll use everywhere, for example no-loyalty or marketplace. Use exactly the same spelling throughout — Shopify tags are matched literally, so no-loyalty and No Loyalty are two different tags.

Step 2: Tag marketplace customers automatically with Shopify Flow

Shopify Flow can tag customers as their orders come in, so you don't have to do it by hand. Flow is available on the Shopify plan and above. If you're on Basic, skip to the alternatives below.

  1. In your Shopify admin, open Flow and create a new workflow.

  2. Choose the Order created trigger.

  3. Add a Condition that checks the order's sales channel, and set it to match your marketplace channel (TikTok Shop, Amazon, or whichever you're excluding). The exact field name depends on how your marketplace app is connected, so pick the one that identifies the channel on your orders.

  4. Add the action Add customer tags and enter the tag you chose in Step 1.

  5. Turn the workflow on.

Test it before you rely on it. Wait for one real marketplace order, or place a test order through that channel, then open the customer record in Shopify and confirm the tag was applied. Marketplace integrations vary in how they report the channel, so always verify on a real order rather than assuming the condition matched.

If you're on Shopify Basic

Flow isn't included on Basic. You can either tag marketplace customers manually from your orders list, or install one of the automatic order and customer tagging apps from the Shopify App Store and point it at the same tag.

Step 3: Exclude the tag in Casa Loyalty

  1. Open Casa Loyalty and click Settings in the left-hand menu.

  2. Select Platform.

  3. Find Excluded Customer Tags and add the tag from Step 1.

  4. Save.

From this point, any customer carrying that tag is outside your programme.

Handling customers who are already in the programme

Tagging through Flow only affects orders placed after you switch the workflow on. Marketplace customers who already joined your programme keep their membership until they're tagged too.

To catch them up, filter your Shopify orders by the marketplace sales channel, select those customers, and apply your tag in bulk. The Casa exclusion then picks them up automatically.

Bear in mind that any points those customers already earned stay on their account. If you want those balances cleared as well, you can adjust a customer's balance individually from the Customers section in Casa.

Common questions

Will excluded customers notice anything?
The loyalty widget is hidden for them, so they simply won't see the programme.

What if I remove the tag later?
Removing the tag puts the customer back into the programme. They'll start earning again on future orders.

Can I exclude a channel directly instead of using tags?
Not at the moment. Casa's channel setting covers online versus POS, so a single marketplace channel has to be handled with tags. If this matters to your store, let our support team know — merchant demand is how we prioritise what gets built.

Does this stop marketplace orders counting towards VIP tiers?
Yes. An excluded customer is left out of VIP tiers entirely, along with points, redemption and referrals.
