VIP Tiers: Points Multiplier vs Points Incremental

Learn how to use the Points Strategy in VIP tiers to reward higher-tier customers with bonus points — either by multiplying their earnings or adding a fixed bonus on top.

What is the Points Strategy in VIP Tiers?

Each VIP tier has a Points Strategy checkbox. This controls whether customers in that tier earn bonus points on top of your base loyalty program.

  • Checkbox OFF — Customers earn the standard points from your loyalty program. No extra tier bonus is applied.

  • Checkbox ON — You can choose one of two bonus strategies: Points Multiplier or Points Incremental.

Points Multiplier

When you select Points Multiplier and set a value (e.g., 2), customers in that tier will earn that many times the normal points on their orders.

Example:
If an order normally earns 100 points and the multiplier is set to 2, the customer will earn 200 points instead.

You can set any multiplier value — whole numbers like 2x, 3x, 4x, or decimal values like 1.05x, 1.25x, 1.35x — depending on how much you want to reward that tier.

Decimal example:
If an order normally earns 100 points and the multiplier is set to 1.25x, the customer will earn 125 points instead.

Points Incremental

When you select Points Incremental and set a value, that fixed amount is added on top of the points a customer normally earns.

Example:
If an order normally earns 100 points and the incremental value is set to 50, the customer will earn 150 points instead.

Quick Summary

Setting

What it does

Example (base: 100 pts)

Checkbox OFF

Standard points only, no tier bonus

Customer earns 100 pts

ON + Multiplier (2x)

Multiplies points earned

Customer earns 200 pts

ON + Multiplier (1.25x)

Multiplies points earned (decimal supported)

Customer earns 125 pts

ON + Incremental (50)

Adds fixed bonus on top

Customer earns 150 pts

💡 Tip: Use the Multiplier for high-value tiers where you want to significantly reward loyalty — decimal values (e.g. 1.05x, 1.25x) work well for smaller, fine-tuned tier bumps. Use Incremental for smaller, predictable bonuses across tiers.
