Redemption Cancellation Guide

How to Cancel Your Redemption

Updated this week

If your redemption is showing as Pending, you now have the option to cancel it directly from your account.

🔹 How It Works

  • Once a redemption is submitted, it may go into Pending status.

  • While it’s pending, you can request to cancel it.

  • After cancellation, the SCs will automatically return to your balance.

  • If you don’t cancel, the redemption will continue through the review process and will be approved automatically if no issues are found.

  • Once a redemption is Approved or Failed (Error), it can no longer be canceled.- Security Reviews: To ensure your transaction is safe, the system may perform additional automatic or manual checks.

  • Payment Processing Delays: External processors or system updates might delay the instant processing.

  • System Requirements: Some transactions require saved debit cards or may involve restrictions based on payment method.

  • Maintenance Periods: Redemptions submitted during maintenance are automatically canceled. You can retry the redemption once maintenance is complete.

  • During the "Pending" phase, redemptions may enter an "Under Review" sub-stage. In this stage, transactions are locked for automated security checks, and cancellation options are temporarily disabled to maintain system integrity.

  • Attempting to cancel and resubmit a redemption during the "Under Review" stage will reset the review timer, potentially causing further delays.

  • Final Processing Stage: If the redemption has progressed to the final stage and is nearly transferred to your bank account, it cannot be canceled.

Some debit card redemptions may be processed almost instantly if the system can approve them automatically. However, additional security reviews may occasionally cause a redemption to remain in Pending for up to 24 hours.

This is normal and ensures your account remains secure. Unsupported payment methods include prepaid cards, certain credit cards, and services like CashApp or Varo.

To increase the likelihood of instant approval, ensure use of a previously saved debit card for transactions. Be aware that certain security checks or unsupported payment methods might cause delays, locking the transaction temporarily.

🔹 What to Expect

  • If your redemption is Pending, you can still cancel it.

  • If you cancel, the SCs return immediately to your balance.

  • If you don’t cancel, it will proceed automatically through the review and settle to your account.

  • The timing may vary depending on security checks, so a redemption might be instant one time but take a little longer the next. An alternative to Debit Card Redemptions includes ACH bank transfers, which typically process in 1–3 business days.- Pending reviews typically resolve within 24 hours, though this may vary in some cases.

  • Canceling and resubmitting a redemption restarts the review process, potentially prolonging the resolution time.

  • To avoid unnecessary delays, refrain from canceling and resubmitting while a redemption is under review. Allow the process to complete for faster resolution.

  • Double-check all redemption details when submitting to minimize errors and subsequent delays.

Possible Questions:

  1. Why can’t I cancel my redemption?

  • Once a redemption is under review or processing, cancellation is no longer possible to ensure secure handling of your transaction.

  1. How long does it take for a redemption to complete?

  • Redemptions typically process within 1–3 business days after review and approval.

  1. What happens if I resubmit a redemption during an "Under Review" stage?

  • Resubmitting during this stage will reset the timer, causing potential delays in processing.

  1. Why didn’t my cancellation go through?

  • If the system prevents you from canceling a redemption, it is likely because the redemption is under review. This safeguard ensures the process completes efficiently.

  1. Why is the Cancel option unavailable?

  • If the Cancel option is unavailable in the app, it means the redemption has reached the final processing stage and is nearly transferred to your bank account. At this point, cancellation is no longer possible.

  1. Can I resubmit a rejected redemption?

  • If a redemption is rejected, the SC is credited back to your account. You can resubmit the redemption after ensuring your setup meets the updated requirements, such as using a saved debit card or ACH.
