Quick Overview: How to use mover roles in Chariot

How using mover roles in Chariot can help you track availability, calculate mover pay, and give your movers only the access they need

Updated over 5 months ago

In Chariot, Mover Roles help you organize and manage your team by defining specific job types for your movers, like "Leader," "Driver," or "Helper." Setting up these roles allows you to quickly assign movers to jobs, manage schedules, set pay rates, and control system permissions based on each role. This article explains how to set up and use Mover Roles effectively to streamline your daily operations and improve team management.

How to Set Up Movers and Roles in Chariot

Step 1: Add Movers

  1. Go to the Resources tab under Movers to add new movers to the system.

  2. Assign each Mover a Role—these roles are fully customizable, so they can be tailored to fit your specific company structure.

Step 2: Customize Roles

  • Roles can be anything that fits your needs, such as "Leader," "Helper," "Driver," "Packer," etc.

  • You can also edit default permissions/ access levels for each role

  • Chariot support can assist in setting up custom roles if needed.

Step 3: Manage Role Information

In the Role Management screen, which some users may have restricted access to:

  • Set default pay rates for each role.

  • Assign colors to roles for easy identification on schedules (if this feature is enabled).

  • Define what permissions each role has in the system.

Step 4: Visual Scheduling and Capacity

  • If visual roles are enabled in your settings, roles will be visible on the schedule to simplify assigning Movers to jobs.

  • You’ll see each mover’s role and the capacity of each role type on the schedule.

Step 5: Control Pay Rates

  • Pay rates can be set by role and overridden for individual movers if needed. For example, you could set different rates for each Mover assigned the "Driver" role.
