Credit Builder Reporting

How Credit Builder rent reporting works — schedule, pending status, which bureaus, retroactive payments, and minimum reporting period.

Reporting schedule and pending status

Your Credit Builder rent reporting may appear as pending for a few reasons:

  • Credit reports have a delay: Credit reports typically experience a delay of around 60 days before they are reflected in your credit history.

  • Reporting schedule: Rent payments are reported to Equifax on the 7th of each month, and we update it on the 10th.

  • Missed payments and manual adjustments: In some cases, you may miss a payment through Chexy but still pay your rent by other means. If this happens, please reach out to us with proof of payment, and we will manually adjust your Credit Builder records accordingly.

Why does Chexy only report to Equifax and not TransUnion?

Chexy currently reports rent payments to Equifax only. We do not report to TransUnion at this time.

Credit reporting partnerships are established individually with each bureau. Reporting to additional bureaus requires separate compliance, technical integration, and regulatory alignment.

Does this affect my credit score?

Your reported rent payments will appear on your Equifax credit file. However, lenders may pull from Equifax, TransUnion, or both, so credit score impacts may vary depending on which bureau a lender uses.

We continuously evaluate opportunities to expand reporting to additional bureaus and will share updates as they become available.

Can I report rent payments made before activating Credit Builder?

No, only rent payments made after enrolling with Credit Builder can be reported. Unfortunately, we are unable to retroactively report any rent payments made before activation, including payments made with Chexy.

If you'd like to start building credit with your rent payments, please make sure Credit Builder is activated for your account moving forward.

What is the minimum reporting period?

There is no set minimum period for reporting your rent when using Credit Builder. You can report your rent payments for as long as your Credit Builder subscription remains active.

This gives you the flexibility to build your credit at your own pace, without worrying about any required time commitments. Simply keep your subscription active, and your rent payments will continue to be reported to help strengthen your credit profile.
