How do I add Credit Builder to my Chexy subscription?
Adding Credit Builder (CB) to your Chexy subscription is quick and easy! Just follow these steps:
Ensure you have an active recurring rent payment.
Your payment must be categorized as "Rent" when set up, or you had active rent payments before Chexy's app update on March 18, 2025.Click "Credit Builder" in the main navigation.
Review and confirm the details.
Upload your lease (if we don't already have it).
Once uploaded, click "Activate." Your rent payments will now be reported to Equifax, helping you build your credit.
Important Notes:
If you cancel Credit Builder, you cannot reactivate it at the same address again.
You can only have one active rent address reporting to Equifax at a time.
What happens if I move while using Credit Builder?
Rent payments are reported to Equifax based on the address associated with your account. If you move:
Before updating your address: Payments will be reported under your old address.
After updating your address: All future payments will be reported under your new address.
Important: Once Credit Builder is removed from an address, it cannot be re-added for that same address.
Moving Credit Builder to a new address:
Cancel Credit Builder at your old address. Click "Credit Builder" in the main navigation, then select "Cancel Credit Builder." Your history will be removed from Chexy but will remain in your Equifax profile.
Set up recurring rent payments at your new address. Make sure to select "Rent" as the category.
Once your new rent payments are active, go to "Credit Builder" in the main navigation and activate rent reporting at your new address.
Can I update my rent amount or due date with an active Credit Builder?
Yes, you can update your rent amount or due date. You may be able to do this directly from your dashboard. If not, reach out to the Chexy support team for assistance with any changes.
