Have you seen these Auto-Close reminders on the Time dashboard? If you do not use Chronotek for payroll, you can turn off this reminder, as we don't want it to be an annoyance.

First - Key Things to Know About Closed Periods

  • The system will auto-close pay periods if you don't close them. The system will allow a max of 4 open Payroll Periods.

  • When the pay period is Closed without exporting, the batch is marked Pending. Any Pending batches can still be Exported.

  • All time cards in Closed Pay periods are locked from any changes - including pay rates.

  • Batches in Closed pay periods cannot be deleted. In the future, we will have an Adjustment process.

How to Disable Auto-Close Payroll Period Reminders

For your convenience, the system has an Auto-Close Payroll processor. However, you may want to turn off the reminders:

Go to Settings > Payroll > Payroll Period > Auto-Close Reminder

About Auto-Closed Pay Periods

The auto-close process handles unbatched time cards differently:

  • Pay periods can close even with unbatched time cards

  • When you prepare payroll, the “Approve Payroll” tab may show “unbatched” time cards. The is a read-only screen.

  • No issues can be resolved in these closed pay periods. Even red critical issues just get rolled into the closed pay period.
