Important: Significant changes to mandatory training in Term 1, 2025

The Annual competency check (ACC) is an annual training module that replaces individual mandatory training refreshers. The module is designed to be specific to your role and duties and will take no longer than 1 hour to complete.

Orange tick users who have not completed all mandatory training to reflect a green tick prior to the 6 December 2024 will need to complete all individual modules as current in the new year (taking you more time to complete).

To be eligible for the Annual Competency Check (ACC) in 2025, staff need to have completed all mandatory training modules due in November and December on or before Friday 6 December 2024.

If you have an orange tick right now, this relates to you.

These are the two mandatory training modules that have been recently added by the Department and may be the cause of your orange tick. Please check you have completed:

  • Code of Ethics and Conduct (PSC) - MT00001 and,

  • Public Interest Disclosures – reporting serious wrongdoing - NR41807

If you're a casual teacher in New South Wales (NSW) using ClassCover, you've likely noticed a tick symbol next to your name. This tick indicates your verification status with the NSW Department of Education, helping schools quickly identify your eligibility for teaching roles. Understanding what each tick means and how to achieve a green tick can enhance your visibility and increase your chances of being booked.

What Does the Green Tick Mean?

A green tick next to your name signifies that you are fully verified to teach in NSW public schools and approved early childhood centres. This means:

  • You are approved to teach in NSW.

  • You have completed all mandatory training through MyPL and e-Safety.

  • Your details have been successfully matched with the NSW Department of Education's records.

This verification status is visible to both the schools you are currently attached to and those looking to add you to their list.

Are you missing a tick or have an orange tick next to your name? Read what that means here.

How Do You Get a Green Tick?

To continue being booked by schools as a casual relief teacher, here's what you need to do to obtain a green tick on your ClassCover profile:

  1. Complete Mandatory Training: Ensure you've completed all required training modules through MyPL and e-Safety.

  1. Update Your ClassCover Profile:

    • Log in to your ClassCover profile.

    • Provide your NESA ID and Date of Birth.

    • Submit the information to send to the NSW Department of Education for verification.

Once your details are matched and your training is up to date, your profile will display the green tick.

Maintaining Your Green Tick

After achieving the green tick, maintain your status by:

  • Keeping your mandatory training current.

  • Regularly updating your ClassCover profile.

  • Ensuring your accreditation with NESA remains active.

Remember, the Annual Competency Check (ACC) is an annual training module that replaces individual mandatory training refreshers. To be eligible for the ACC in 2025, staff need to have completed all mandatory training modules due in November and December on or before Friday 6 December 2024.

What's Next?

Once you have the green tick, there’s nothing more you need to do – just ensure that you are maintaining your accreditation. Keep your profile up to date and continue meeting the necessary requirements.
