All NSW DET staff must complete a range of mandatory training to comply with departmental and legislative requirements. Mandatory training is required when staff enters the department as part of the induction process and on an ongoing basis throughout employment. This applies to all permanent, temporary, and casual staff, both school-based and non-school-based.

Mandatory training is required when staff enter the department as part of the induction process and on an ongoing basis throughout employment and includes:


​Aboriginal Cultural Education (mandatory from Term 3 2022) AC00560 - Every 3 years

Anaphylaxis e-learning Teaching and Administrative Staff (NRG01569)- Every 2 years

Anti-Racism Policy training (mandatory from Term 2 2022) NR30069 - Every 2 years

Child Protection (2024 update available now) NR41255 - Annually

NEW: Code of Ethics and Conduct (PSC) - MT00001 - Annually (Previously known as: Code of Conduct Online NR27345 which has been archived)

Cyber Security NSW Essentials training NR31133 - Annually

Data Breach Preparedness Module 1: Reporting Data Breaches (NRG12326) - Every 5 years

e-Emergency Care NRG14190 - Every 3 years

Fraud and Corruption Control NR33012 - Annually

Work Health and Safety (WHS) induction for employees NR33383 - Once

Public Interest Disclosures – reporting serious wrongdoing - NR41807

NOTE: As of 04 May 2024, non-completion of the Public Interest Disclosures – reporting serious wrongdoing course will turn your verification status into Partially Verified.
