How clients see their Progress in the app

A walkthrough of the client’s progress overview in the app: covering weight, body measurements, and steps

Written by Malene Malmkjær

Weight, body measurements and steps all sit directly on the front page, each with its own detail view. Anything your client tracks shows up here, so they can see their own development between your conversations instead of waiting for you to tell them how it is going.

Here is what they see 👇

The Home and Progress page at a glimpse

When your client opens the app, they land on three cards:

  • Weight - current weight, change so far, and how far they are toward their goal

  • Body composition - their measurements and body fat percentage

  • Steps - today's steps against their daily target, plus the last seven days

The order and content of the three cards is fixed. You or your client cannot swap them for other content.

Below that is Recent activity, showing their latest workouts and activities in chronological order.

If a check-in is due, a prompt appears at the top of the page with a Start check-in button, so they can complete it without going looking for it.

Weight

The weight card shows their current weight and a trend line, with the total change since they started.

Underneath, they see their starting weight, their goal weight, and a progress bar with the percentage completed. This is the same start and goal weight you have set on their profile, so what you enter on your side is what they see on theirs.

They can log a new weight straight from the card using the + button, without completing a full check-in.

Weight is not right for every client

If weight tracking is not healthy or relevant for someone, you can hide the weight chart entirely from their view. See "What you control as a coach" below.

Body measurements

Tapping the Body composition card opens the full measurement view.

At the top is a graph with a range selector, so your client can look at the last month, three months, six months or full year. If there are no readings in the selected range, the graph says so rather than showing an empty chart.

Below the graph is the Measurements list. Each row shows the current value, the previous value with the date it was logged, and the change between them. So instead of a single number with no context, your client sees the direction of travel on every measurement they track.

This list shows the standard measurements your client has tracked, like waist, hip, chest, thigh and body fat percentage. Custom metrics from your check-in forms are not shown here. They appear in the client's check-ins, but not as a measurement with a progress graph.

Steps

The steps card shows today's step count against the daily target, with a ring for each of the last seven days so your client can see their week at a glance.

Tapping it opens the detail view, which adds:

  • How many of the last seven days hit target

  • How many steps are left to reach today's goal

  • Distance, calories and active minutes

  • A seven day bar chart with the daily average and the target marked

  • When the data was last synced

Distance, calories and active minutes are estimates

These three figures are calculated from the step count and your client's profile. They are not measured by the phone or watch, and they will not always match what another app reports. The step count itself is the measured number.

Steps sync automatically from Apple Health on iOS and Health Connect on Android, the same connection that brings in activities from a watch. If a client's step count looks wrong, they can correct it manually with Edit steps.

👉 If steps are not syncing at all, the permission is usually the cause. See Setting Up Apple Health with Coachway on iOS or Setting Up Health Connect with Coachway on Android.

Recent activity

Underneath the three cards, your client sees their most recent workouts and activities together in one list, with duration, calories and average heart rate on each. Tapping one opens the full detail, including splits for runs and cycles.

What you control as a coach

You decide what is relevant for each client:

  • Hide weight. For clients where weight tracking is not helpful, you can hide the weight chart entirely from their view.

  • Skip circumference measurements. If your check-in form does not include fields like chest or waist, those charts are automatically not shown.

  • Custom metrics. These show in the client's check-ins, not on their Progress page.

The result is that your client only sees what actually applies to them.
