Your watch says 12,000 steps and Coachway says 7,000. Often this comes down to one of three things:
When Coachway last synced
More than one app tracking the same steps
A day where the number was edited by hand.
Work through the checks below in order 👇
1. Check When Coachway Last Synced
Coachway does not read your steps continuously. It pulls them in when the app syncs, so the number you see during the day can be a few hours old even when everything is working.
Open the Coachway app and go to Profile → Integrations, then tap Sync now. If the number jumps up to match your watch, nothing is wrong. The data was just waiting to sync.
Your watch app needs to have synced first. If Garmin Connect, Zepp, Fitbit or Samsung Health has not pushed today's steps to your phone yet, Coachway has nothing to collect. Open the watch app first, let it finish syncing, then sync Coachway.
2. Check Whether More Than One App Is Tracking Steps
Your phone counts steps on its own, and so does your watch. If both are sending data, your phone can decide which one to trust, and it does not always pick the watch.
On Android
Open Health Connect
Go to Manage data → Data sources and priority
Select Activity
Drag your watch app to the top of the list
Whichever app sits first is the one Health Connect treats as the truth when two sources disagree.
On iPhone
Open the Health app
Go to Browse → Activity → Steps
Scroll down and tap Data Sources & Access
Drag your watch app above your iPhone in the list
This is worth doing once when you set your watch up. It is the single most common reason for steps looking roughly double or roughly half of what the watch shows.
3. If You Have Edited a Day Manually
Editing your step count for a day tells Coachway to keep your number for that day. Later syncs from your watch will not overwrite it.
If you edited a day because the steps had not appeared yet, and the watch data arrives afterwards, the day keeps the number you typed rather than the higher one from the watch.
Small Differences are Normal
A gap of a few hundred steps, or a number that catches up later in the evening, is not a fault. Your watch and your phone round and batch data slightly differently, and syncs happen on a schedule rather than instantly.
What is worth reporting is a consistent pattern: your steps always sitting at roughly half or double the watch, or a day that never catches up no matter how many times you sync.
It is Still Not Matching?
Reach out to us in the chat, and include:
Which watch and which app you use (for example Amazfit with Zepp, or Garmin with Garmin Connect)
Whether you are on iPhone or Android
A screenshot of the same day in both Coachway and your watch app, taken a few minutes apart
Whether you have edited your steps for that day
Having both screenshots from the same day is what lets us tell a sync delay apart from a counting problem.
