Connect with fans using WhatsApp

In addition to SMS, email. and Instagram DM, you can also send WhatsApp messaging through Cobrand!

To run WhatsApp messaging, there a couple steps which, when done in parallel, take around 2 weeks. We strongly recommend setting this up first thing when you sign-up so it is ready to go when you are.

If you want to get started, please reach out to us so we can open up the access flow on your account. Then you can follow the steps below.

Step 1: Carrier Registration

First, we need to register you with US mobile carriers. To begin this process, go to Profile Settings > WhatsApp. Please complete all fields from the perspective of your business, not the artist. What you enter here will not impact how the artist appears to fans. It is just required to create a mobile account.

Once submitted, it takes up to a week to get approved. We will notify you by email when it is ready.

Step 2: Create WhatsApp Business Profile (If Applicable)

While the carrier registration is in progress, you need to create a WhatsApp Business Profile if you do not have one already.

This can be done with Meta through the steps in this Meta workflow. During these steps you will be asked for your phone number. You can find it in the same modal you inputted details in before, in the "SMS Settings" section.

During the Meta registration, please ensure you complete all the steps including green-tick Business Verification. If the artist already has a WhatsApp Business account, ensure that you have admin level permissions to it, and also that the account is Verified.

The next step is to add the Verified WhatsApp account to the artist's business portfolio, in Meta Business Manager. Navigate to the Artist's business portfolio (to which you must also have admin access) and link the WhatsApp account.

Step 3: Connecting WhatsApp in Cobrand

Once you hear from us that the carrier registration is complete, go back into the Profile Settings > WhatsApp section. You will see a prompt to sign into Meta using your business login for that account. Select the WhatsApp account for the artist, and complete the flow.

You can now select WhatsApp as a delivery method across Drops and Fan Messaging!

Important note

All new WhatsApp Business accounts are subject to a "warm-up" period right after they are created (this is a Meta policy, not Cobrand's). For the first 72 hours, you can only send 1,000 messages. After that, the limit is removed. For this reason we recommend running a non-timebound Drop like a Friends & Family sign-up or Pre-Save, until you reach that limit.
