Industry Research via Catalog

Research competitor artists in Catalog

Updated over 2 months ago

Catalog is the best place to view how your Artist's tracks are trending. But this can also be used for industry research!

First, unselect all of your Artists. This will turn this page into a Global song catalog. In the screenshot below, you'll notice the search bar is empty. In this state, the page is effectively showing the most popular songs across TikTok and Instagram.

From here, you can look up an artist to see their top songs. This view will be the same as if you were looking at your Connected Artist.

You will notice all songs by default are Locked. However, you are welcome to Unlock any of these songs - even if they don't belong to your Connected Artist. Adding them here will not impact your Artist list.

Once you Unlock the song, you can click into it to learn more about the trends driving the top-line sound trends you can see in the Locked state.

  • As with any newly Unlocked song, you'll see the graph and table metrics right away - but it may a few hours to backfill the UGC video data and related creators and trends the first time you Unlock it.

There is no time limit rules on Unlocking and Locking songs. So, as with your Connected Artists, if performing research you can return any songs you're finished with back into a Locked state.

You'll notice the search bar has option to search by Artist or by Song. This will allow you to find Songs and related version quickly, and similarly, to narrow in on a certain Artist - again, without having to Connect them.

If you wish to search by sound instead of by song, you can still do so. Navigate to the Tools section in the left panel, and use Sound Search.
