Update a Student Name
If you need to correct or update a student’s name in CoGrader, you can do this directly from the assignment dashboard:
Go to the assignment where the student’s work is listed.
Find the student’s submission in the Submissions tab.
Click the three dots on the right side of their submission.
Select Change student name.
Enter the updated name and save your changes.
This will update the student’s name for that submission and across your grading view.
Sort and Display Student Names on the Assignment Dashboard
You can now control how student names appear and how they are sorted directly from the assignment dashboard. This makes it easier to scan submissions or align with your grading preferences.
Steps
Go to the assignment and open the Submissions tab.
Click the dropdown arrow next to Student Name.
Choose your preferred display format:
First Last
Last, First
F. Last
Last, F.
(Optional) Toggle Hide names if you want to anonymize submissions while grading.
Select how you want to sort students:
Sort by First Name
Sort by Last Name
This setting updates your view instantly and helps streamline grading, especially when working with larger classes.
Update a Class Name
Option 1: From the Classes Page (Recommended)
On the left navigation bar, expand Classes and click View all.
Locate the class folder or specific assignment in the Classes and assignments table.
Click the three dots icon on the right side of the row.
Select Rename.
Enter the new name and confirm your changes.
Option 2: From Inside the Assignment
Click on the assignment you want to edit.
Click on the assignment title at the top of the page to edit.
Make your edits and save.
Google Classroom classes
If the class was imported from Google Classroom, you can still rename it inside CoGrader. When a class name in Google Classroom changes, CoGrader displays an indicator showing the updated name so you can match the naming if needed.
The rename action inside CoGrader updates the display name in your workspace but does not change the name in Google Classroom.
Delete a Class or Assignment
If you no longer need a class or assignment, you can permanently delete it from your workspace.
Steps:
On the left navigation bar, expand Classes and click View all.
Locate the class folder or assignment you wish to remove.
Click the three dots icon on the right side of that row.
Select Delete from the menu.
Confirm deletion when prompted.
Warning: Deleting a class or assignment will permanently remove all associated submissions and grading data from your workspace.
Edit an Assignment Prompt
You can update or add a prompt at any time, even after grading has been completed.
Steps
Open the assignment.
Click the prompt field at the top of the page.
Type or paste the updated prompt.
Select Save in the upper right corner.
