At CoGrader, we’re committed to protecting the privacy of both teachers and students. We collect only the student and teacher data needed to operate. Here’s a breakdown of the types of data we collect and how we handle it.

1. Personal Information

For Teachers:

When a teacher creates an account, we may collect:

  • Name

  • Email address

  • School affiliation

  • Other contact details provided during signup or account setup

This information helps us support your account, personalize your experience, and communicate important updates.

For Students:

CoGrader does not collect personal information directly from students. Any student-related data (such as names or ID codes) is provided by teachers solely for grading purposes.

Because we do not collect student personal information ourselves, CoGrader is compliant with:

  • COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act)

  • FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act)

  • Other applicable U.S. privacy regulations

2. Grading Data

To grade assignments, teachers may upload:

  • Essay questions

  • Rubrics

  • Student submissions (text, images, or other formats)

We treat this grading content as educational records, and we handle it in full accordance with FERPA guidelines.

3. Usage Information

We also collect technical data to help improve the platform. This includes:

  • IP address

  • Device and browser type

  • Basic usage patterns (such as clicks and session duration)

This non-personal information is used to:

  • Monitor platform performance

  • Improve user experience

  • Maintain security and system reliability
