Summary

  1. To create a new cost index, navigate to the settings menu and select Cost Index Library. Then select New Index and add the necessary details, such as the name, the base year and the base index value.

  2. Specify how you are going to update the cost index whether yearly, quarterly, or monthly. Finally, specify the base city for your custom cost index.

  3. The next step is to add the city locations to which you want to add cost indexes. Simply click add location and search for the city name.

  4. The next step is to add the cost index for every city year to year to reflect the cost change for your reference projects. Once done, click save, and then update, for the platform to calculate the percent difference year to year.

  5. You can set this cost index as the default.

  6. This means whenever you open the normalization window, this cost index will be chosen as the default under the custom cost index.

  7. The custom index is also available in Concept Hub, where you can choose the one you need from the normalization window.

  8. In Concept Hub, you can also escalate costs, which means projecting today's dollars into the future.

  9. An escalation cost will start from the base year, which is the current year, and project the cost to the start year of the concept project. You can add these escalations for each analysis, or you can create a custom index as well in the Cost Index Library to be used on multiple concept projects.

  10. From the Settings menu, go to Cost Index Library, then open the Escalation tab. Here you can add a new Index.

  11. Give it a name, and a maximum year.

  12. Then specify the percentage escalation year to year. Once saved, this escalation index will be available for use on all concept projects.
