Legend
A draft item is an item that is missing key details to be put into the Pending stage. This status is meant to be used for a placeholder item until the scope is added. The values from a draft item are not reflected in charts and calculations.
A pending item is an item with all necessary details and scope of work. These items should be discussed at meetings to be approved or rejected.
An approved item inside ConCntric does not necessarily mean that changes have been incorporated into the next milestone estimate.
An item that has been rejected by the team. If needed, this item can be reverted back to a pending status.
An archived item is an item that the team decides not to present to owners but may need to revive later. |
Summary
To create a new Value Optioneering item, navigate to the ForeSite Solution, and click New Item. You can create a new item from scratch or add one from the library.
The library can be used to keep track of all items created across your projects. When you create a new VO item, you can add it to the library. Or, you can open the ForeSite library from the enterprise solution and add new items here.
To create an item from scratch, click New Item. You will be presented with this window to input some required details for this item.
To add more details to the item upon creation, click Configure fields to include more fields in the item creation window. All these details can be also filled out after you create an item. Always start by adding the item title.
In the Scopes of work window, specify the changes that will lead to cost increases or decreases. Start by inputting the scope name, choose the component that will be affected by this item, then specify the quantity and the unit of measure from the available list. Input the unit cost.
On the Keyboard, use:
Tab to go to the next field.
Enter to edit the field or open the dropdown menu.
Shit+Tab to go to the previous field.
Specify the appropriate classification based on your project. Amplify can also help you here with classification suggestions.
In a similar way, you can add scopes that will lead to a cost decrease. Input the scope's name, component, and add the negative sign before the unit cost. The classifications can also be filled manually or using Amplify.
To add a markup, you can import the current project's markup scheme, use a markup template, or create markups from scratch.
If you want to create multiple items one after another, you can check Create another. This way when you finish creating one item, ForeSite will automatically reopen this window for you to create a new item.
In the items table, you have many sorting and filtering tools to help you organize your items. You can also use the search bar to find items by name.
When you open an item, you see all the fields that you can fill out to add more insights into this item. These are the fields that you can customize upon item creation.
In here, you can add more components to the item in case it affects more than just one components. You can add any square footage change, and adjust the scopes of work and markups you already created.
You can also add related issues, attachments and comments.
On the bottom of the screen, you can check Add to ForeSite library and choose the OmniClass classification under which to save this item.
On the side of the screen, you can add even more details about the VO items, and assign it to other project members.
The attributes are custom fields that you can add to an item if they do not already exist.
The Range of Outcome can be used to reflect the cost variations of this value optioneering item. The range of outcome can be entered as a percentage of the value optioneering item's cost, or as a lumpsum.
Finally, you can add mutually exclusive items from the list of items already existing in your project to avoid double counting ideas.
Note that the same item creation menu is also available for you from the Target Value Design solution.
