Summary
In Target Value Design, you can work either in a grid view to focus more on individual targets, or in a table view to look at many targets at once.
To set an individual target, you can simply type in the value in the table.
You can also click on the target name to open this flyout menu where you can add a tolerance, a stretch goal, and see any related VO items and activity. If you want to edit or delete this target, you can edit it in the table.
The table view is a great tool to bulk update targets. Start by selecting the targets you want to set by checking the checkbox, or select all of them using the checkbox in the table header. Then click Set Values.
If you are setting targets for the first time, use the Set from Base tab. Choose what you are adjusting whether the Target or the Stretch goal. Then choose the base value to which you will apply a percentage to calculate the target. Once ready, click apply and the targets will be applied.
Let's say you are getting ready to publish a new estimate, or you did some work in ForeSite and want to adjust these targets, select the targets you want to adjust, click Set Values, go the Adjust by percent tab, and choose the percentage change you want to apply to targets or stretch goals. This percentage could be a positive number to increase the value of the target, or a negative value to decrease the value of the target.
One important column in this table is the variance column. From the View Settings, you can decide if you want to calculate this variance between the forecast cost and the current cost, or between the forecast cost and the target cost. Remember that the forecast cost takes into account approved and rejected VO items. This setting here applies at the project level.
If you want to change this variance calculation on the account level, go to the company settings, and change it as needed under the Default TVD Variance.
