Using Contented with an Android Device

This guide explains how to record and upload conversations to Contented using an Android device. You’ll learn how to use built-in recording apps on popular Android phones, where to find your recordings, and how to upload them to Contented via your mobile browser.

Latest Android devices from Samsung, Google, OnePlus, and other manufacturers include powerful built-in recording capabilities, but the exact app names, locations, and file storage paths vary significantly by brand and Android version.

Quick Summary

Using the In-Built Recording App on Android

Before recording, remember to ask for consent.

Samsung Voice Recorder (built‑in)

  1. Launch via Apps > Voice Recorder.

2. Recording is as simple as tapping the red record button; pause, stop, then save, then you’ll be asked to name the file.

3. Saved recordings usually land in Internal Storage > Voice Recorder.

Google Recorder (Pixel phones only)

  1. On your device, open the Recorder app.

  • Tap Record.

  • Tap Pause, then tap Save.

  • Unlike other Android recording apps, Google Recorder doesn't save your audio files in a typical folder.

    • Tap the recording you want to save.

    • Tap Share

    • Choose Save to Files

    • Save the file to your Downloads or Another folder.

Other (Sony, Motorola, OnePlus, etc)

  • Usually found under Apps as Sound Recorder, Voice Recorder, or similar.

  • A standard interface with record, pause/resume, stop, and save options.

  • Files typically save in Internal Storage > Recordings or Sound Recorder.

Uploading via Contented mobile site (aistudio.contentedai.com)

  1. Open the Contented Mobile Site:

    • Launch Chrome or another browser on your Android phone.

    • Go to: aistudio.contentedai.com/login

    • Log in to your Contented workspace.


  2. Access the Upload Screen:

    • Once logged in, look for a “Click to Upload” button.

  3. Upload Process:

    • Tap the upload button.

    • You will be prompted to select a file from your device.

    • The device’s file picker will open, allowing you to browse your internal storage

  4. Locating Your Recording:

    • In the file picker, go to the folder where your recordings are saved (see above).

    • Select the recording you want to upload

  5. File Uploaded:

    • The file will be uploaded to your Contented workspace.

    • You will see the 'Uploading' screen

    • Once successfully uploaded you will see a green success notification, and the file can be found under 'Successfully uploaded files'
