Introduction
Hosted videos on CCK give you full control over both how your videos appear and how you track viewer engagement.
This article covers everything you need to know about managing your video settings, using video chapters, enabling comments and captions, and understanding your video analytics for videos hosted on CCK.
Access the Video Manager
To begin, navigate to your Video Manager:
Go to Website Settings > Videos.
A pop-up will open with a list of all your uploaded videos.
Click the Analytics button to view engagement across all videos.
Note: This applies only to videos uploaded directly to your CCK website and not to externally hosted videos like YouTube or Vimeo.
Read your video analytics
From your Video Manager, you’ll see the following stats across your videos:
Total Views (pink): Total number of times the videos were played.
Engagement Score (blue): Average watch time per video.
Unique Views (yellow): Number of individual users who watched.
Hours Played (green): Total time your videos have been viewed.
You can filter results by time frame. For example, if you select All Time, you can view the video's overall performance.
Engagement tip:
If your engagement is low, it could mean your videos are too long, unclear, or not well-placed. Consider adding chapters or shortening your content.
Manage settings for individual videos
To adjust settings for a specific video:
Go to the folder and click on the video you want to edit.
You can now:
Update the video title and description.
Add a custom thumbnail or allow the system to auto-generate one.
Assign categories for easier filtering.
Add video chapters to help users find specific content.
Enable and manage comments (with options like requiring approval or allowing image uploads).
Add captions
To add captions to your video:
Generate the captions externally.
Click Settings > Add Language.
Upload a .srt or .txt file with your captions.
Repeat this for multiple languages if needed.
Captions improve accessibility and help users follow along more easily.
Drill down into individual video analytics
Each video has its own analytics dashboard.
Select a video, click Analytics, and set the date range.
View engagement score, drop-off points, and average watch time.
Use this insight to improve video content or structure.
Drop-off analysis helps you understand where users lose interest and is excellent for refining training videos or sales content.
Share and embed videos
To share a hosted video externally:
Open the video settings and click Share.
Adjust display options:
Remove controls.
Autoplay.
Loop.
Pause on lost focus.
Make responsive.
Use video loop as thumbnail.
Once set, copy the embed code to add the video to another website or page.
Use video chapters
Video chapters allow viewers to jump to key points.
While editing your video, scroll to the spot where you want a chapter.
Click to add a title and time marker.
Chapters appear in the video player and help users find what they need quickly.
Add comments and descriptions
You can’t add clickable links to a video description, but you can use the first comment.
Enable comments and post your key links or details as the first comment.
Alternatively, add supporting text or links on the page where the video is embedded.
Note: if you add a description below the video, it may get pushed down by the comments if they are enabled on the video.
Edit video settings inside a community
When a video is embedded in a community page, you’ll get extra settings:
Remove controls.
Autoplay or loop video.
Pause on lost focus.
Keep the aspect ratio.
Show title/description/comments.
Show manual watched toggle.
Display the number of views.
This gives you flexibility when adding multiple videos to one page. You can also decide whether viewers can manually mark a video as watched.
Track viewer progress per user
To see which videos a user has watched:
Go to their Contact Card.
Click the Videos tab to view:
Videos started.
Videos completed.
Date and time stamps of activity.
This is especially useful when answering support queries or tracking student progress.
Additional Tips
Keep an eye on low engagement scores and add chapters or trim content where needed.
Use categories to group your content for easier access and filtering.
If embedding videos elsewhere, test your embed settings to ensure a seamless user experience.
What to Do Next
Add chapters to your top-performing videos.
Upload captions to improve accessibility.
Check drop-off points and refine your training content.
Explore automation triggers based on how your videos are being watched.
