At this point, you should have a pretty good idea as to how the Customer Portal works. Your very next question, though, is likely how to get started!
Every one of your customer locations (that is, physical addresses under a billing account) can be managed separately or together for the various customers of yours. Each one of these locations is accessible to your customer by way of their email address and their Customer Portal Account.
In order to invite a customer to your Customer Portal, you will want to first bring their account up on the Customer Center. On the left side, near the bottom, you'll see their current status with the Customer Portal. The options are either "Not Connected" or "Connected".
"Not Connected" status on the Customer Portal
By default, of course, your customer will not be connected to their account through the Customer Portal. You'll need to invite them. Fortunately, this couldn't be simpler.
Wherever you see the "Not Connected" option, you can click on it to then invite that customer to use our Customer Portal to access their account. When you do click on that link, you'll see this option pop up.
"Send Invitation?" pop up
This is to give you the confirmation that you do, indeed, want to invite this customer. Once you click OK, the customer is emailed a "Welcome to the Customer Portal" link that will get the process started.
The email address that's used to contact the customer is the one that is on file, under their Contact Information. You don't need to type that email address in again, but you will need to ensure that the email address is on file BEFORE you invite the customer.
And it's as simple as that! If you refer to the previous video walkthrough (or other articles within this help system) then you'll see what steps the customers, themselves, take at this point. Suffice to say, once the customer accepts your invitation and signs up for an account they will immediately be able to see all assets they have deployed, request new assets and (if your Billing is setup appropriately) even have the option to pay their unpaid invoices through the system at any time.
