Why does FanSee require a hardwired Ethernet connection, and what should I do about Wi-Fi?

FanSee processes live video streams from potentially hundreds of fan phones simultaneously, which requires substantial and consistent bandwidth. A hardwired Ethernet connection provides the stable, high-throughput connection necessary to handle this load without latency issues. Wi-Fi connections, even strong ones, can experience interference, signal fluctuation, and bandwidth competition that leads to degraded video quality — appearing as choppy, pixelated, or lagging feeds on your video board.

Additionally, if your FanSee laptop has both Wi-Fi and Ethernet enabled simultaneously, the system may not know which network path to prioritize, leading to unstable or failed connections. This can manifest as phone feeds showing 'waiting on permissions' or failing to display properly on your mainboard output.

For the best results, always run FanSee from the dedicated CUE laptop (or a computer meeting the minimum specifications) connected directly to your venue's network via Ethernet cable. When you plug in the hardwired Ethernet connection, make sure to disable Wi-Fi completely. This ensures all network traffic routes through the more stable hardwired connection and eliminates any potential conflicts between the two network interfaces.
