Which Timings are available to use in an Episode?

Learn more about the different Timings available in Cuez and how to show them in your Episode (Script, Rundown)

Updated over a week ago

There are various ways of calculating timings for your Episode (Rundown and Script). To make sure you get all values right, we have summarised the different types of Timings and their meanings below.

To find out in more detail what each Timing does and how to use it, see How do I use the different Timings available?.

How to enable Timings in your Episode

Episode (Script) Timings

Episode header Timings are always visible and thus easy to keep track of.

The available options are:

  1. Live show versus Recorded show
Selecting 'Live' will result in the option to enter 'On Air time' (2) and 'Off Air time' (3). Selecting 'Recorded' will remove these options as these will not be relevant in the case of a recorded show.

  2. On Air time
Real-time on air time of the show.

  3. Off Air time
Real-time off air time of the show.

  4. On Air duration
Total estimated duration of the show, shown in hours:minutes:seconds.

  5. Over/under duration
The over/under indicates the amount of time you are over or under your total show time, based on your Estimated durations.

Part / Item / Block Timings

Besides timings on the Episode (script) level, Cuez also has timings on the 'Part', 'Item' and 'Block' level. To enable these, click the plus-button (1), then check the box for 'Timings' (2). Next, select which Timings you want to add to your Episode (3).

The available options are:

  1. Estimated Duration
Represents the estimated time for each Part, Item or Block in the Episode.

    1. Block: Based on the amount of text or the duration of uploaded media (audio, video) inside a block, Cuez can automatically calculate an estimated duration. As a user, you can overwrite this calculated suggestion, or you can simply enter your own value in an empty Estimated Duration cell.

    2. Item: Based on the sum of the estimated durations of all individual Blocks within the Item, Cuez will automatically calculate the Item Estimated Duration for you. As a user, you can overwrite this.

    3. Part: Based on the sum of the estimated durations of all individual Items within the Part, Cuez will automatically calculate the Part Estimated Duration for you. As a user, you can overwrite this.

  2. Front time
Shows the estimated start time of each Part, Item or Block.
Based on the On Air Script time and Estimated Duration of the Part, Item or Block.

  3. End time
Shows the estimated end time of each Part, Item or Block.
Based on Front time and Estimated Duration of the Part, Item or Block.

  4. Back time
Shows the time we should start a Part, Item or Block if we want to end our show on time. As a user, you can overwrite the Back time of an Item.

  5. Part timer
Shows a countdown of a Part, spreading the Part timer duration over the underlying Items based on their Estimated Durations.

  6. Actual duration
Actual duration of a Part, Item or Block, based on the real-time cueing duration during (live) recording.

  7. Actual start time
Shows the actual start time of when the Part, Item or Block was cued via the Cue button.

  8. Actual end time
Shows the actual end time of when the Part, Item or Block was cued via the Cue button.
