Which Timings are available to use in an Episode?

Learn about the different Timings available in Cuez and how to display them in your Episode (Script or Rundown).

Updated over 2 weeks ago

There are multiple ways to calculate Timings in your Episode (Rundown and Script). Below is an overview of the available Timings and their meanings.

How to enable Timings in your Episode

Episode (Script) Timings

Episode header Timings are always visible, making them easy to track.

The available options are:

  1. Live show versus Recorded show
Selecting 'Live' allows you to enter 'On Air time' (2) and 'Off Air time' (3). Selecting 'Recorded' removes these options, as they are not relevant.

  2. On Air time
The real-time start of the show.

  3. Off Air time
The real-time end of the show.

  4. On Air duration
The total estimated duration of the show (hours:minutes:seconds).

  5. Over/under duration
Shows how much time you are over or under the total show time, based on Estimated Durations.

Part / Item / Block Timings

In addition to Episode-level Timings, Cuez also supports Timings on the Part, Item, and Block level. To enable these, click the plus-button (1), then check the box for 'Timings' (2). Next, select which Timings you want to add to your Episode (3).

The available options are:

  1. Estimated Duration
Represents the estimated time for each Part, Item or Block in the Episode.

    1. Block: Automatically calculated based on text length or uploaded media (audio, video). You can overwrite this value or enter your own.

    2. Item: Automatically calculated based on the sum of all Block Estimated Durations. Can be overwritten.

    3. Part: Automatically calculated based on the sum of all Item Estimated Durations. Can be overwritten.

    4. Front time
Shows the estimated start time of each Part, Item or Block.
Based on the On Air Script time and Estimated Duration of the Part, Item or Block.

  2. End time
Shows the estimated end time of each Part, Item or Block.
Based on Front time and Estimated Duration of the Part, Item or Block.

  3. Back time
Shows the time we should start a Part, Item or Block if we want to end our show on time. As a user, you can overwrite the Back time of an Item.

  4. Part timer
Shows a countdown of a Part, spreading the Part timer duration over the underlying Items based on their Estimated Durations.

  5. Actual duration
Actual duration of a Part, Item or Block, based on the real-time cueing duration during (live) recording.

  6. Actual start time
Shows the actual start time of when the Part, Item or Block was cued via the Cue button.

  7. Actual end time
Shows the actual end time of when the Part, Item or Block was cued via the Cue button.
