Learn how to overwrite Back times to help plan your Episode and stay on track

Updated over a week ago

The Back time in Cuez shows the time we should start a Part, Item or Block if we want to end our show on time, based on the (Episode) Off Air Time.

E.g.: If the Episode's Off Air time is 13:00:00, and the last Item has an Estimated Duration of 5 minutes, then the Back time of this Item would be 12:55:00.

Cuez automatically calculates the Back times throughout the Episode, based on the Off Air time of the Episode (in the Episode header), as well as the Estimated Durations of the Parts, Items or Blocks.

The automatically calculated Back time of an Item can be overwritten with a custom value, which can be used to set a clear hit time for certain Items.

E.g.: A sports show has a pre-match segment that goes on air on 13:30, the match itself starts at 14:00 and we go off air 16:30.

If we want to be sure that we end the pre-match show at 14:00 so that we start the match on time, we can overwrite the Back time of the match Item to 14:00.

This causes the Back times of all other Items to automatically recalculate, and as a result shows when we should start each of our pre-match Items in order to start the match on time.

When overwriting the Back time of an Item, the Back times of the Items above will be recalculated and adjusted automatically as needed. The Back times of the Items below the overwritten one will not be adjusted, but will have their color change to red depending on whether or not they are 'valid'.

The original, automatically calculated Back time is shown in black or dark grey. Black when they are 'active', dark grey when they are 'inactive' (meaning that the Part that the Items are in, has a manually overwritten Estimated Duration).

The Back time of the Item that is overwritten with a manual value becomes blue.

Back times that result in a value that is no longer 'valid', meaning an Item would have to take place at a time before a previous Item's manually overwritten Back time, would be shown in red.
