A 'Part timer' is an additional timing option that can be enabled in the Timings columns.
A Part timer provides additional timing information for a Part and its underlying Items. It is usually used alongside, or instead of, a Part's Estimated Duration.
How do I use a Part timer?
Entering a Part timer value and the resulting calculations
A Part timer is initially empty and requires a manual value to be entered before it can be used. Once entered, Cuez automatically distributes Part timer values across the underlying Items based on their Estimated Durations.
Using a Part timer helps you see how much time you have available for each Item until the end of the Part.
E.g.: We have a Part that has 3 Items. Item 1 has an Estimated Duration of 1 minute, Item 2 has an Estimated Duration of 3 minutes, and Item 3 has an Estimated Duration of 1 minute, for a total of 5 minutes.
When we enter a Part timer value of 5 minutes for our Part, Cuez will automatically add Part timer values for our underlying Items. Item 1 will receive a Part timer value of 5 minutes, Item 2 gets 4 minutes, and Item 3 gets 1 minute.
Part timer and cueing
When a Part timer value is filled in, Cueing that Part will use the Part timer value instead of the Part's Estimated Duration value.
When no Part timer value is filled in, Cueing the Part will use the Part's Estimated Duration as per usual.
E.g.: If a Part in your Episode has an Estimated Duration of 15 minutes, for example, for the analysis between two halves of a football game, but in the end you might only have 13 minutes to work with, you could enter a Part timer of 13 minutes for this Part.
βIn the Timings overview, it will be clearly visible what the Part's Estimated Duration is, as well as its Part timer value.
βNext, when cueing the Episode, the Part will count down from the 13-minute Part timer instead of the 15-minute Estimated Duration of the Part.
