What is a Media Library in Cuez?
In Cuez, by default, you can upload media (videos, images, audio) from your computer or any drive or network share that is connected to your computer. Once uploaded to Cuez, the media is added to your Episode and made available to your whole team - either for previewing directly in the Episode or for use with our Automator.
If you’re using a Media Asset Management (MAM) system that already contains the media you want to add to your Episode, Cuez has you covered with its Media Library functionality.
Which Media Libraries can be added to Cuez?
Cuez already supports multiple MAM systems, and the list is expanding, as well as custom integrations with watch folders and more.
At the moment of writing, Cuez can be linked to systems such as:
Mimir
Iconik
EVS VIA MAP
And custom integrations such as watch folders and more
How can I add a Media Library to my organization?
To add a Media Library to your Cuez environment, you have to be an Owner, meaning you have access to the organization settings.
As an Owner, go to 'Projects' in the top left and select 'Organization settings & billing' from the menu. Next click 'Media library'. You can also use this direct link to go to the correct page.
From the Media Library, use the blue 'Add media library' button in the top right corner to add a library. Next, enter a name for the library you plan on adding, then select the type from the dropdown.
Depending on the selected library type, you can then fill out the details required to add the library to your organization.
How can I add Media from a Media Library to a Cue Block?
With your media Library now added, the way to add media into a Cue Block in your Episode will slightly change.
Without Media Library configured
When no Media Library is configured, the default way of adding media is by clicking 'Add video', 'Add image' or 'Add audio' in your Cue Block. This action then opens your Finder (macOS) or Explorer (Windows) where you can then navigate to your media and add it to your Block.
With Media Library configured
When you do have a Media Library configured, the initial process of adding media is the same, except that now you will not have your Finder or Explorer open, but you will get a new screen with a couple of options:
A first tab in the top left called 'Upload to Cuez'
This tab now behaves the same as adding media without a Media Library. You can drag&drop media onto this screen, or you can click 'Select file' to open up the Finder/Explorer.
A second tab in the top left with the name that you gave to the Media Library you added
E.g. 'Mimir'.
Opening this tab for the first time will prompt you to log in to the MAM system using your credentials (credentials of the MAM system, not Cuez).
Once logged in, which is a one-time process, you can now browse the assets in your MAM system. Select the media you want to add to Cuez, and confirm the action with the blue 'Add media' button in the bottom right corner.
Potential other tabs
Depending on how many Media Libraries you have configured, you can have multiple tabs in the top left, one for each of the available options.
