Insights Reporting vs Meta

Reasons Insights and ad-view numbers don’t match.

Written by Libby

You might notice that the numbers shown in the Insights tab don’t always match what you see when looking at an individual ad view. This is expected, and here’s why:

Different Data Sources

  • Insights Tab → Pulls from one Meta Ads API.

  • Individual Ad View → Pulls from a different Meta Insights API, which includes additional breakdowns (e.g., demographics, devices).

Timing Differences

  • The Meta Insights API (used for individual ads) is usually a few minutes ahead.

  • This means it may show slightly more recent results — sometimes just one or two extra clicks.

Impact on Metrics

  • Because the individual ad view is fresher, key metrics like ROAS, CTR, or Cost Per Result may look different.

  • These numbers update as soon as Meta tracks new clicks, purchases, or actions.

In Short

  • The Insights tab gives you a stable, reliable overview.

  • The individual ad view is best for seeing the very latest numbers.
