Insurance Cost Sharing FAQs: Submitting a Referral

Updated over a year ago

What if my student is self-consenting to care or is over 18?

If this is the case, please check the box next to the prompt that says “I’m certain this student is not covered by insurance.” All students who self-consent or are over 18 will have their care sponsored by the district rather than billed to insurance.

I submitted a referral and my student is showing up under "Missing Insurance Information" but I already know that they do not have insurance.

If we have not received insurance information from you or the parent, you will see the student listed under the "Missing Insurance Information" section of your Daybreak Dashboard homepage.

This section means means that we need the parent to complete the Parent Welcome Packet, which includes either providing insurance information or indicating that they do not have insurance. It also includes providing consent for care which needs to be provided before we can match a student.

If you would like to to help the parent get the packet completed please see these articles on: Entering Student Insurance Information yourself and Sharing Your District's Parent Welcome Packet Link

Do I need to check or enter student’s insurance information myself?

You do not need to enter your student’s insurance information yourself, but you do have the option to do so. Parents will be asked to submit insurance information as part of the Parent Welcome Packet. (learn about the Parent Experience here). If you would like to enter student insurance information yourself please see this article: Entering Student Insurance Information.
