Deploi has integrated with Yoti to provide digital right to work and identity verification within BS:7858 checks. This being said, not all candidates will be able to go through the digital route. When you request a check on a candidate, they will choose between three routes, which we’ll cover below.
All routes give you the option to upload proof of national insurance number, should you want this for your own records.
Digital Right to Work Route
If your candidate has a valid UK passport, they can choose to go through the digital route using Yoti. It’s important to note that they must be provided with the option to perform their check manually if they prefer.
The candidate will be asked to take a photograph of their passport. The perfect photo includes:
An unobstructed view of the photo page
No glare
All text being legible with no blur or obscuration.
They’ll then be asked to perform a liveness check, which Yoti will compare to the candidate’s image in the passport.
Once they have submitted this, it will be available to you through the portal to review. Occasionally, Yoti can take a couple of minutes to process a document - if this happens, try coming back to it shortly.
Yoti provides a recommendation of ‘pass’ or ‘reject’, and can occasionally suggest to reject a document that you can see no issues with. In these cases, you’re able to override the suggestion and keep on record that you determined there was little to no risk. If you do agree with Yoti however, you can reject the check, which will prompt the candidate to go through and submit.
If you’re happy with the document, you can approve it using the screening panel on the right hand side. This will record the necessary data for an employer's right to work.
Sharecode Route
If a candidate uses a Sharecode, they’ll be prompted to submit the code as well as their date of birth. They’ll then be requested to perform a liveness and identity check through Yoti.
Once these have been done, you will need to perform the remainder of the check by providing the sharecode into the Government sharecode checking website, and reviewing the pdf that is provided.
This pdf needs to be uploaded into the candidate’s RTW module, and the expiration date will need to be provided (if applicable).
Any Other Document Route
If a candidate does not have a sharecode or valid UK passport, they will need to go through the ‘any other document’ route. It’s worth noting that candidates with valid UK passports must also be given the choice to go through this route instead of the digital verification too.
Candidates going through this route will be required to upload an image of their right to work document, and then be prompted to confirm their National Insurance number, as well as their identity.
To mark this check as complete, you need to be confident that the candidate’s document is authentic and valid, and see proof of their National Insurance number. You must also see the document in person.
